Hold on[edit]

Shouldn't we wait until the user in question pronounces himself? This is still a RfA, isn't that one of the requeriments for opening it? (even though the repostulation process seems a bit unclear really).--Fighterdoken 00:06, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, technically yes. It's supposed to be in the pending nominations section. But that's just a formallity. It exists mainly to avoid situations like this. The fundamental point is that we don't hold RfAs for people who haven't asked for them. SO if he asked for it in an email or in something else, that shoudl be fine. It'd be silly to exlude people just because they don't have wiki access right then. I'd expect for him to post in it later, as one Candiodate already did. Backsword 05:20, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
This is however a reconfirmation RfA, it was opened due to the length of time since he last went through the process and the amount of support the reconfirmation had from the community. This was not done at the Gares request, but rather as a courtesy to those members of the community that wish to verify he still has the support of said community to retain his sysop tools. I don't see where his response is necessary in this case. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 05:32, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
From the RfR section:

"The reconfirmation process itself is simply another RFA for the sysop. It can be brought about by one of the following conditions:

  • enough user support:
  • the sysop in question voluntarily choosing so
  • community consensus (such as a reconfirmation timeline for grandfathered sysops)
  • part of a ruling/remedy by the arbitration committee (not an individual bureaucrat)
