Some players prefer using a controller to play Guild Wars, as opposed to a keyboard. As controller support is not natively available for the game, third-party software has to be used at the player's own discretion and risks.

ds4windows[edit]

DS4Windows works for PS4 (DualShock) and PS5 (DualSense) controllers enabling you to create many key bindings on custom Profiles, as well as some macros for your chosen controller. You can create your own Profiles for different games, and the "default" controller Profile bundled in DS4Windows allows you to play most controller enabled Windows games as an XBox controller.

Joy2Key[edit]

JoyToKey enables you to control most programs (e.g. web games, browsers, office applications or even Windows itself) by using your favorite windows joystick or gamepad. Whenever you press joystick buttons and sticks, JoyToKey will convert the joystick input into keyboard strokes or mouse movements so that the target application works as if you used a real keyboard or mouse!

Control MK and XBCD[edit]

Control MK with the PC driver XBCD can be downloaded to use a "wired USB" 360 game pad as a standard controller. XBCD is a Driver for Xbox and Xbox360 controls to provide proper input functionality, including trigger remapping and ForceFeedback. While Control MK functions to emulate mouse and keyboard through custom profiles.

Xpadder[edit]

Allows full mapping, easily customized and not limited to a single type of controller.

Pros
  • Doesn't require installation of any additional software (such as Microsoft's "Xbox live essentials").
  • Allows changing layouts when a certain key is pressed, such as skills 1-4 mapped the standard buttons and 5-8 mapped in their place while holding a shoulder button.
  • Simple setup (no installation required).
  • Continued development in full version while still very functional in free version.
  • Can map command sequences (such as: select nearest item, delay, activate; for one button pick up)
  • Can map LMB+drag to an analogue stick to use mouse camera controls.
Cons
  • Requires a little thought while setting up your own layouts.
  • While possible to setup for mouse usage it may be preferable to swap to mouse for tasks such as mass identifying, salvaging, selling and storing.
  • NOT FREE

Notes[edit]

  • Most gamepads only have 4 major buttons while you will have 8 skills, however you can enable toggle keys that allow more key buttons, allowing you to hold a button and press another button together will be able to allocated to another key, or even macros.
    • You can map to shoulder buttons, but they may be used for utility.
    • You can map a "toggle" key to re-use them but this groups your skills into 2 groups of 4 which isn't preferable on some builds.
