Picture[edit]

Wrong picture, that's the solemn spear. Unless the normal ceremonial spear is the same skin as the solemn spear, and only the unique ceremonial spear is based off of the Design-a-Weapon contest? Silavor UserSilavorSigIcon.png 21:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

There's a normal version of the Unique skin, as well. So it's the wrong picture. 96.228.48.55 21:30, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Dye?[edit]

Is this new skin dyeable? If so, someone please add a dye chart to the article. 76.196.0.4 00:13, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

disappointing[edit]

looks rly bad, Design-a-Weapon 2007 has brought up some rly good looking, creative design weapons, Draconic Scythe,Storm Daggers,Obsidian Edge,Draconic Aegis, Demonic Aegis and... this spear...

at first glance seemed one of the Charr Weapons due to the furr on it and the wooden handle of the spear... the head of the spear seems bronze, and rapresents an unclear symbol, perhaps flame (Charrs are flame worshippers)...

Ceremonial weapon [1] - a weapon used for ceremonial purposes to display power or authority, their form is typically designed to show status and power.

guidelines for designing ceremonial weapons:

  • 1 materials - elite materials, gold, platinum, gemstones...
  • 2 design - sybmolic oriented design, imperial authority mark or sign
  • 3 colors - bold, bright, rappresenting power, mainly black, red or white

and lets see this "ceremonial spear"

  • 1 materials - cheap furr, wood and bronze, all poor materials
  • 2 design - there is a vague resemblance of a fire symbol, often a symbol of primitive societes (like Charr) but far from rappresenting status or authority of an empire
  • 3 colors - they are flat, pale yellow bronze, brownish for the wood grip and the furr, they are not strong, bold or bright primary colours

this design has failed even to get close to the concept of a ceremonial spear. Zomby 15:34, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

p.s. this spear concept from one of the other finalists that was not implemented looks much more ceremonial, take a look [2] Zomby 16:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

The design is based on a chinese spear (called a Qiang)...the blade usually carries some sort of a leaf or fire shapped design...the tassel, usually made of horsehair, is meant to distract or blur the vision of the opponent so they can't grab the shaft of the spear as well as...get ready...to soak up the blood that would other wise slide down the shaft of the spear and make it hard for the wielder to hold onto the spear (yeah cool right?). The only drawback really is the length of the spear...but that is more where the "ceremonial" part of the name perhaps makes more sense as it would be more for show than for actual use. PS: No, I'm not the original designer, just someone that is familiar with this particular weapon. --Dar Drakor 19:24, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
