No sense what so ever[edit]

Changing this skills attribute makes no sense. Its a sythe attack so it belongs with in Sythe mastery. Changing this is stupid. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.121.168.43 (talk).

Its to hurt Wounding Strike Dervs in HA a bit. Instead of lowering the damage they moved it to wind(Chilling.Wind. Makes sense sorta)thus indirectly lowering the damage from it.~Falcon67.181.164.73 23:47, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Unless you run one of its variants; a preferred version with Wind Prayers. Gogey 23:50, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I think this was more targeted toward Sway R/D's. Not such a biggy for the D/E's, you all ready had a good investment in Wind Prayer points for Signet of Mystic Speed. Ezekial Riddle 23:53, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
If this was to hamper the Ranger scythers, I'm beginning to think Izzy is on drugs. Why didnt he just re-nerf Pious assault.--Media Control 00:55, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Let's change Searing Flames to Expertise and Mark of pain to healing prayers =] 203.134.15.82 00:43, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Haha, yeah I agree this update was rather pointless. It is a melee attack that has the potential to do high amounts of damage, but even then it can miss from blind and the secondary damage has always been low to consider it a threat.William Wallace 01:14, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

You are missing the whole point here, all attacks can miss due to blind. With your logic, anything that can be affected by blind isn't a threat? Chilling victory has a high damage when you add the small damages up. Using it on a foe with already lesser hp than you IS a threat to the foe. The secondary damage is aoe, hence it does add to the pressure in tight knit areas too.Special:Contributions/ 04:01, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

What about just nerfing the rangers who abuse other classes? it was always like this, first it was the toucher (necro abuse), afterwards it was the bunny (warrior abuse) and now its the same for the dervish and the assassin...So instead of nerfing every other prof, just nerf the ranger.

Touching Expertise would kill off the profession. Yes, I know about the Soul Reaping thing ages ago, but necro's still get by well on their energy. Reworking Expertise again, however, does not offer any viable solution. Saphatorael 08:46, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

If they nerf Expertise, it should be so that it just affect ranger skills (doesnt hurt people using only ranger skills, removes abuse of other professions) Mcdertr 15:21, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

If that happens, people will start asking for Fast Casting to only affect Mesmer spells. Hrm. Saphatorael 16:59, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't see mesmers abusing their fast casting to kill as fast as Sway does. What? A mesmer spamming flare? Think not. Know why? That's because rangers have the potential to use their main attribute to grief others. (Much)Lesser energy + absurd block rate + snares + a whole pletora of conditions = nerf it already.220.255.7.209 18:46, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
There are no snares in Expertise, just blocking, IMS, energy management, Glass Arrows and Distracting Shot. If the Ranger's primary attribute is so overpowered, why are they slipping out of balanced PvP?
It's not R by itself that is the problem. It's R WITH something else that becomes the PROBLEM. Rangers who abuse secondary professions are rewarded, and those who play "normally" are punished. Do you even see R/Ds in balanced? How about R/N or R/W?

FYI:Snares are derived from the secondary profession they abuse.

Bow rangers are dying. D: Phill Gaston 04:42, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Also bows deal horrible damage and have such a long attacking time (once every two seconds). I'm not saying the scythe ranger is a good thing, but they are one of the best ranger builds around (for survival and good enough damage to make them viable for pve as well).William Wallace 21:10, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

And to the user who has the ip of 220.255.7.198|220.255.7.198, the cold damage is not armor ignoring and is reduced by whatever shields, runes, or skills that reduce damage on your character. This skill always had regular activation time so it was very easy interrupting and the damage was never high enough to be a threat to any of my characters ever. Classes that use melee weapons are suppose to have skills that can deal high amounts of damage in one blow to counter elementalist who can deal the most about of damage in game so this skill was always fine and balanced.William Wallace 21:15, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

GW has gone weird indeed. Rangers with no bows, Assassins with no daggers, Warriors with bear claws instead of weapons... Is it the time for the Dervishes also? :S Eth 10:18, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

R/D, so it would be primary attribute skills which work well against any melee plus with ranger armor the damage from any elemental source is greatly reduce and that is a R/D.The same mess with R/W,R/N or any other R/*.--Wealedout 04:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

moved back to scythe?[edit]

90.207.30.15 22:40, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

this really makes no sence. dervish already atakes very slow, so it needs to have skills that give a great amount of damage. this skill should be moved back to scythe mastery

Its PvP... It was overpowered, they fixed it. Justing6 01:59, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
It was overpowered. Thankfully it will stay in Wind Prayers. This in Scythe Mastery was way too godly to ignore and thus this really overshadowed other potential builds and skills, making the game for Dervishes stagnant (really, it was good).--Wealedout 23:01, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, now that it's in Wind Prayers, it still does more damage than all the other scythe attacks. Someone at anet is REALLY good at math [/sarcasm] ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 23:20, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Yes it still does and is not a problem. Specializing in Wind Prayers and Scythe Mastery you are sacrificing protection from Mysticism and Earth Prayers. Thanks for you keen observation, now no one has to search the whole Scythe Mastery wiki page for the strongest scythe attack.lol--Wealedout 23:31, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
