Talk:Crystal Wave

Pretty good damage for its attribute (and it's armor-ignoring), but high cost, even worse recharge, AND a drawback make this skill pretty meh. This skill (and its duplicate) could use a rework. Or just a good buff. A rework might be better though, or everybody'll be running both skills + Shockwave. Saphatorael 10:10, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

NEGATIVE conditions?[edit]

i thought there were ONLY negative conditions. Was there a planned positive condition? (invigoration, Alert, phyiscally fit, etc.?)--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 14:33, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

WTF?[edit]

This is the same as Aftershock except it also cures the foes' negative conditions and doesn't give extra damage to KDed enemies. Bisurge 01:47, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

oughta re-read the aftershock description, and not the concise one. Aftershock will do CW level damage if they are KD'ed, thats aftershock's drawback. Curing your foes of conditions is CW's drawback--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 01:53, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

This skill does armor ignoring damage. Aftershock does earth damage. Therefore this skill will usually have a higher damage output. Erasculio 01:59, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

that too. Good thing there isnt crystal damage eh? (though it would be piercing damage...)--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 02:00, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

only difference i see is the earth damage vs. armor ignoring...cw costs more energy, doubles recharge, and cures conditions. i cant understand how cw is any better than aftershock. 204.126.132.36 17:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

armor ignoring is invaluable for spikes, usually i use this to finish people off. Barkingllama 06:26, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Imo, this skill is invaluable for HM Terra Tank farming, where Aftershock does like 50 dmg even when they're KDed 72.222.217.198 18:29, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

dont forget you could always take aftershock AND CW and/or it's duplicate :)

Pre Sliver Damage[edit]

In a couple PVE farming builds, I use CW and TC as a precast before throwing on sliver armor. Doing so helps to shrink up surrounding enemy health by 212(With 16 earth magic). This makes sliver armor chew through enemies much faster since they have lower health. It also comes in handy with the last few straglers which would normally be very time consuming kills considering sliver armor just blows on small groups. When dealing with low armor mobs it is probably more effective to use BUH or Intensity to just increase sliver damage but, when it comes to enemies with high AR such as warriors or when farming in HM, I find the armor ingnoring damage of CW and TC makes things faster. I often use this method for solo Glint's Challenge runs. I save more time with these guys than I would with damage enhancers. Killing 2 slots on the skill bar isn't ideal but, it has it's place and isn't exactly a universal skill. It's just an idea, and I thought it was worth mentioning. Glyph of Immolation[edit]

If used with Glyph of Immolation, does the burning condition get applied before this spell checks for conditions and removes them? --Combatter 09:50, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

From the Glyph page, I would say it would be removed. The burning is apparently applied before the spell takes effect. 96.48.131.210 09:53, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Except this spell is untargeted. 96.245.80.116 14:20, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Synergy with Vow of Strength?[edit]

Doesn't this skill have good synergy with Vow of Strength, as it removes any conditions on your adjacent foes which means that Vow of Strength can actually have an effect on them. Forgot to sign- --Wise Old Man 16:38, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, I guess it doesn't anymore since Vow of Strength was reworked completely a few months ago. Pjwned 15:33, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
