Type of damage[edit]

As of today (2007/06/15) the description of this skill and the one of its duplicate say they deal shadow damage twice, not 1 cold damage + 1 shadow damage. Don't know when this was changed though. Jaxom 06:16, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Never did cold damage. You're thinking of Deathly Chill --Ckal Ktak 21:04, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
The wiki says it did at one point here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Defile_Enchantments&diff=186505&oldid=157850, but that may have been an error.--splatterpuss 21:08, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Acctually scrap that it probably wasn't an error as the duplicate skill description was also changed on the same day--splatterpuss 21:10, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Has never been cold damage. Someone simply entered it incorrectly, and it went unnoticed for a while. Even since the 2005 release, Desecrate has been Shadow/Shadow, and not Cold/Shadow. Guildwiki's history confirms this. MA Anathe 03:22, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
In game it doesn't specify shadow or cold damage. I assume that means armor ignoring damage, which I would then say Shadow damage is an ok response ;)--Gungraave 05:52, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Doesn't need a target?[edit]

Is it me, or this takes effect even without a target... sometimes I'm casting it, and the target dies before the casting is completes, but the surrounding enemies take damage. Anyone knows? --talk Large 15:42, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

It's just as with the AoE's the elementalist casts, technically your original target just sets the area for the damage. Lou Wolfskin 09:25, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
No, if you cast say fireball and target dies it will simply missfire. While this will keep casting. This causes it to never fail but at the same time target can die and AP can recharge all skills, then this casts on the spot where your target died after it's dead. It has a very peculiar behaviour indeed. 84.48.54.253 11:02, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
No, Fireball doesn't "simply missfire". It will not fail and will finish activating even if the target dies during casting, which would be exactly the same as Defile Enchantments. Fail#Skills that don't fail when target foe dies during activation. --Silver Edge 08:33, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
