This guy can be killed and his bloody heart collected while the quest is active and before you even talk to Dark Oak. Blue Totoro 01:07, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Reference?[edit]

This will be followed by lots of it's not a fraking refence but anyways... In the book Game of Thrones, theres a person called Drogo, that has a really large mane because they don't cut their manes until they get defeated in battle. Also, i know more reference of this book in Guild Wars, just leaving this here--77.229.109.226 22:03, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Yea, also the Dathraki always rides horses, and he sorta is a horse. Im certain it is a referance to Khal Drogo.
See talk:Blood And Smoke. Reportedly, developers said that this was not an intended reference. However, the similarities are obvious so it seems fair to list the facts (but without suggesting intent). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:17, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
Seems remarkably coincidental for it not to be, especially considering that the quest drop is a bloody heart; in GoT, Daenerys (wife of Khal) is given a horse's heart to eat. On its own it's not particularly significant, but with the rest (both parts of the name, the hair and the species) it's pretty close to conclusive. Trivia is fine as it is though. - Bramblefeet 00:59, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm always of the opinion that we can lay facts at the reader's feet and let them draw conclusions (and mix metaphors). It seems wrong to state something is a reference without confirmation and the phrase, might be a reference irks 9 out of 10 of my English teachers as passive voice clutter. Plus, the facts are never controversial...and claims that something is (or might be) a reference often are.
That said (and despite my earlier misgivings), I agree that this particular setup has a remarkable number of points of similarity; if it's coincidence, that might be even more notable than if it were intended. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:18, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Further possible reference regarding GRRM - in Game of Thrones, Daenerys (Drogo's wife) is required to eat the heart of a horse in order for her pregnancy to be blessed. So even though it's a long shot, the fact that Drogo Greatmane - a centaur (half horse) - gives up his heart for Dark Oak to eat, is striking nevertheless. Alccode 03:25, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Dark Oak doesn't eat it. He ritually sacrifices it to "consult certain powers" to try to divine the identity of a traitor. Blue Totoro 01:07, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
