Good with...[edit]

Enraged Lunge count as one of the skills, good if done with all/or with one of these: Otyugh's Cry, Call of Haste and Call of Protection (you have already +80 damage there) or other skills alike, since it will give bonus armor and unblockable (Otyugh's Cry) attacks for your pet.--ShadowFog 14:02, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Where's the "good?" -Auron 14:18, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
When I go as a best master, I use Call of Prot. ; Symb. Bond ; Any slow-recharging pet attack skill and it. that's my 100 dmg at a non-crit. Best about it is they focus on you, but your pet is deep in there hammering for 90-120 dmg. Heal as One and RaO are bad skills. Ninjas In The Sky 20:08, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
HaO's a bad skill?!?! O_o :P --Berk Avci 01:08, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
The heal spike is big, but a long rech time, so just get R/Mo with comfort animal and healing breeze. Ninjas In The Sky 12:30, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
The healing breeze part just gave you the right to never play guildwars again :p Lilondra 16:23, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
:P It beats Troll Unguent by a lot as a ranger self heal though, that's for sure. --Relax and Play 00:38, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Healing breeze pwnz ra thats enough reason NEVER TO USE IT AGAIN !!!!! ;) It also locks youre secundary profession to monk costs more energy and isnt linked to an attribute you will proly invest in anyway ;).Neither can you combine it with NATURAL STRIDE.But ofcourse for complete hawtness combine troll unguent and healing breeze cause we all know it doesnt get capped at 10 pips AMIRITE ? :p 81.245.234.120 13:29, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Dood, and since you're in Healing, all you need is Mending on top, and you're invincible!!1!!1!1 ~ Da Si 19:21, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Related[edit]

removed Enraged Smash as its no longer related after the update Stefyvolt 13:09, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

On that note, why not buff this skill the same way? Your Pet attacks for the max damage the attack would have been (80), knocks down moving foes, and gains 1...4...5 Adrenaline. Brutal Mauling spike anyone? PowerGamer 03:17, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Update August 6, 2009[edit]

Less plain damage potential, but now it fits into any beastmaster build, and deep wound is a hard condition for rangers to cause because other than this they have to use their secondary. 66.41.46.226 03:31, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

considering that the damage is lower and that deep wound doesn't stack, I would consider this a nerf --85.59.35.91 12:00, 8 August 2009(UTC)
Not a nerf at all, deep wound is still a deadly condition, a ranger can apply degen pretty easily and then use this skill as a powerful finisher (remember than pet's deal now +33% damage) so basically the +50 damage means something like 100 damage (on a dire pet) --Ranger-tango-icon-200.pngSoulforgedMesmer-tango-icon-200.png 14:02, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Not sure myself, 3 of my beast mastery builds used this to devastating effect pre-change. Now it simply doesn't have the same utility. Also applying deepwound in PvE is only really handy against a small amount of enemies, most enemies will be dead before deep wound has any effect. So I have to agree that this is a nerf to coincide with the general increase in pet dmg output. Which, although im sorry to see it go, I can understand why it needed to be done. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 11:22, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
What are you talkin' 'bout? This is +167 damage. Am I alone in thinking 167>80? Backsword 11:28, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Backsword, where are you getting 167 damage from mate? The mean dmg of a dire pet pre dmg buff was 28, increased by 33% that's 37.5 per hit currently. Add this to 50 dmg from this skill (which as far as I understand it is not privy to the dmg amplifier) and that equals 87.5 on average using this skill or 104 dmg if the amplifier is added to the dmg inflicted by the skill, this is opposed to the skill previously doing 108 dmg on average. Thus this is a nerf, not a major nerf and as I said its heavily balanced by the recent changes in pet dmg and defense or have I got my math wrong somewhere? -- Salome User salome sig2.png 19:22, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
I think he was adding a +100 to the damage, from deep wound. personn5High Winds.jpg 19:38, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Stop being retarded,DW is the strongest condition in the game when you want to kill.Guess what you want to do in PvE Lilondra User Lilondra Sig.jpg*poke* 08:26, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
The damage dealt by this skill is about 37+50+DW(which is usually a loss of 100hp) so it's approximately a total amount of 187-200 damage. Deep Wound might not be very useful in PvE but usually because skills that inflict DW have either a long recharge, don't deal damage in addition to the DW or the DW is conditional, the reason the skill is pretty useful is its short recharge/low energy cost and unconditional DW. So basically you can just spam it and inflict DW+damage to almost anything and kill foes faster. Of course some foes would die too fast, but since it has a quick recharge you can use it right after. --Ranger-tango-icon-200.pngSoulforgedMesmer-tango-icon-200.png 08:48, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
You don't have to waste half your skill slots for crappy skills and dw spam is awesome. update makes the skill so much better--Relyk 21:25, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Condition then Damage Application[edit]

Skills apply damage, conditions, effects in the order they are mentioned in the description from what I have seen. Since this skill applies deep wound before the damage, it makes this skill especially lethal when compared to applying them in reverse order.98.124.27.97 15:17, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
