If the damage was 0, does the caster still get the energy point?

Of course. Damage is (nearly) any numbers that reduce your hp that can be seen on your screen, nulled by prot skills and such or not. Flechette 03:35, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

If you run a bonder build you'll be better of with Balthazar's Spirit on yourself.

Actually, from my observance, it does not provide energy when the enchanted takes 0 damage.

"Damage in Guild Wars results from actions taken by attackers that subtract a portion of a defender's health. This definition includes many attacks or skills (including spells) but does not include health degeneration, life stealing, sacrifice, or health reduction caused by skills such as Infuse Health or Illusion of Weakness....", in short, damage is an action that have been intended to reduce someone's health. Actually, I've tested, and Essence Bond does not work if the damage is absorbed by something like Shielding Hands. If damage spills over said protection, you will receive energy. -- Hercanic 14:30, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

great energy management if you throw it on a tank who knows how to hold agro. But even if the tank is only getting hit by 1 monter it pays for itself + a lil. Much like a zelous weapon--Justice 22:09, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Anomaly

Why is this an anomaly? It is true that you get a damage packet, but you don't actually get damage. 0 damage = no damage. So it is working as it is described, your thinking is just too abstract/mathematical. I'm removing it. 145.94.74.23 10:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

most skills that trigger on damage still trigger on 0 damage. 0 is not no damage in most cases. AlysWarder 11:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

All attacks against you miss, therefore no damage occurs(not even "0" damage) and you get no benefit.
