Talk:Finding Jinnai (Hard mode)

Worked for me[edit]

Use the Mesmerway build in PvX then pick Panic for two mesmers and Energy Surge for the 3rd one.

Trigger the dialog then take the first portal you see, after teleport go North, find the dead end path with a Door. Don't bother about Jinnai or the Miku.

First pack of enemy will spawn right here so finish them and flag all your heros to the right side of door behind the corner of rock/mountain. Use this corner as a Line of Sight/Choke point.

There will be several spawns next to you, finish them there're also some packs will come down from afar. Clear them as well. You might see Allied NPCs running across the map don't follow them or get any close.

When waves stop coming to you, grab your heroes and go find the Jinnai but don't get too close, as you approach him more enemies will start aggroing you and clear them safely.

That's it, hope it works for you.

Tips For Finishing[edit]

I took me a few attempts, but this was definitely a doable quest. I used a mostly stock 7 Hero Player support Setup off of PvX with a few key changes.

  • First off, no minions, I found they were way too much of a hassle because they would just keep running all the way down the stairs and stall the NPC's, when they died, my party would wipe because all of the monsters would suddenly flood in.
  • Second, lots of corpse exploitation, to keep the monsters from using putrid explosion and raising too many minions
  • Lastly, WELLS. I feel that wells easily made the biggest difference between a wipe and a successful run; especially because of the cramped spaces/bottleneck that I chose to camp at, so there was really no escaping them. I found that Well of Darkness and Well of the Profane made a HUGE difference, considering that there are many physical attackers and virtually everything is buffed with enchantments.

Another interesting aspect about the spot I chose was that the AI couldn't seem to find me for an extended period of time, by the time the monsters started trickling in, everything had spawned. Really for the first minute of the quest you actually stand around doing nothing, it'll quickly pick up though, but with sensible tactics (i.e. making sure Miku doesn't run all the way down the stairs and stall) the mobs should be manageable. By the end of the quest there was one last patrol which I had to pull in with a longbow, and at that point the quest finished. To get to the spot, first trigger the dialogue, then run to the teleporter near the entrance. Upon exiting the teleporter, back up (i.e. move south-west), then due south until you run up the set of stairs to the graveyard. Amusingly I just daggerspammed through it with a friend who brought discordway -_- File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 21:48, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Whatever works right? :D76.88.127.158 23:41, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Usually I never use them, but Cons make the difference for me in this quest. The difference between failing halfway, and no deaths at all. --Kilaa1000 21:25, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
I didnt use cons, camped in this graveyard, 7 hero party with meta support but I kicked mm ---> i took well death magic like guy above (profane roxx) and 2x eles: 1 fire and earth. Easy and thx for idea of wells. --Zupa 21:02, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I second what the person above said. In NM, I simply stood where Jinnai was, and easilly killed eveything around. In HM, I got raped over and over at the graveyard. I've just finished it with a conset: 0 death, and at some point I even got bored and berserked my way down the stairs. Overpowered maybe? - Sir Mad 89.83.230.187 18:18, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

I just beat the entire WoC content on HM without cons, and this was the only quest that took more than 1 or 2 tries. In fact, it took more like 15. First I tried standing where Jinnai is like I did in NM, but I got overwhelmed. Next I read this talk page and tried the graveyard ~10 times with various team setups, but I just couldn't get them to keep aggro on one character the whole time--and as soon as they start running up those steps (I tried bringing melee heroes / minions to body block too) and getting all mixed in with your ranged, it's over. There are just way too many at once. I ended up beating it by doing this: I'd take that same teleporter at the start after initiating the dialogue and waiting a bit (so Miku would fight with Jinnai instead of me), but then I'd run north to that spawn point in the dead end instead. I'd then camp that spawn point until no more enemies came out of it. Then, I slowly worked my way around the edge of the map counter-clockwise while Miku and Jinnai just kept some distracted by dying over and over. For some reason, if you move slowly around the edge like that, they only come at you a group or two at a time--if you go too close to where Miku or Jinnai are fighting at, the whole dang map will aggro on you and swarm you. By the time I finally got near Jinnai and Miku, there were only 3 groups remaining and I wiped them out easily. 71.97.54.222 01:25, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Another method i found works is to camp outside the teleporters, and as soon as you're overwhelmed step through, don't worry about people dying, their corpses will teleport with you, hold each one as long as you can and you'll kill all of them in no time.--Stratzvyda 05:37, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Found a successful strategy that consistently worked for me (10 times), though you will likely need several attempts. Immediately camping in the graveyard and tanking always resulted in a long wait, eventual swarm, and wipe. Camping at the "dead-end door" works as advertised at first, but eventually I get swarmed and wipe if I stayed there. What eventually worked rather well was a hybrid: a) Take the closest portal and flag your heroes at the door, b) Walk/run to Jinnai, trigger the dialogue, and immediately walk back (run if you can) to your heroes (Miku will follow), c) About 1/3 of the way back micro your heroes to setup spirits and activate "Can't Touch This!" (invaluable against the Ministry imo), d) As you approach the first mob that spawns at your team's location, their melee will come after you so be prepared (e.g. "I Am Unstoppable!"), e) Get to your tanking spot on the stairs in front of your team (regardless of profession) and pop a summoning stone if you have some, f) After 5 mobs popup at your location, there will be a lull in the fighting but eventually some mobs will start to approach from the clockwise direction, g) From my experience, optimally the first of these later groups will pass and head towards Jinnai, but you want to fight the next two (which are likely to turn towards you anyway). If there is a overly long delay before you start to see these later mobs, you will likely be swarmed no matter what you do, h) After you take out the 2-3 roving mobs, immediately leave and circle around to the graveyard, flag your heroes at top a bit back from the top of the stairs, and prepare to tank from there, i) Ministry of various size groups will start to trickle in from time to time, which are all manageable, though you may eventually have to hunt down or pull random enemies. During a lull, you can also approach within compass range of Jinnai, which will cause him to approach you for another ally. Good luck. Lord Flynt (talk) 04:54, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Used the door with a single egress point talked about above and it's very consistent (messed up because I made a careless mistake myself.) I've worked on this mission for three days and after doing the following tactic, worked the first time. Get your team through the teleporter then to the door with a single entrance and wipe the mobs there. Just as a reminder, there are more popups than you think so be patient before you do the next part. As you exit the nook, the enemies seem to 99% come from the path to the right that leads upwards, that little narrow vertical bridge. Walk over there with a speed boost, lure them, and bring them back to the corner where your team waits. The mobs will try to make a tight turn around the corner into the nook and will bodyblock themselves pretty consistently (obviously not 100%) so you can nuke them hard. Bring some good AoE and normally they will blow up before they realize what happened. This has worked for me 3x in a row. The AI will not follow this pattern 100% but any leftovers just mop up. The secret is to be patient; if you pull from all over the map, the enemies won't be balled up enough and won't bodyblock themselves, making this a little bit more difficult. If you have sat there for a while and nothing has come, venture out carefully and lure whatever is left back to your hole. --50.151.35.60 00:30, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Used [3] with myself carrying SoS+offensive sprits, but replaced the MM with wells as mentioned above. I was able to stay in the graveyard the entire time except for mopping up the last patrol, but I had to be sure to regularly remove flags to burn down casters gathering at the base of the stairs. Since the stairs act as a chokepoint for your team as well, be sure to prioritize mages and mesmers if you go this route. Mdbauman (talk) 22:15, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Family Matters[edit]

I think this quest is also preceded by Family Matters (Hard Mode). Miku wasn't in Shenzun Tunnels to give me the quest before I completed that one. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.196.128.63 (talk) at 23:13, 13 February 2012 (UTC).

You probably attempted to visit Miku in Normal mode after completing WoC pt3 - hence stopping her appearance. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 12:49, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Tips for those still doing this[edit]

Take the very first portal you see after triggering the dialogue with Jinnai and Miku. Pre-prot with Shelter and kill the first spawn mob you see a few seconds after teleporting. After that, continue pressing forward and you'll see a stairwell that leads to a closed door. Park all your heros in this closely-nit region. Pull groups one at a time, and then bring Miku and Jinnai to your location to attract all other foes. Remember: enemy spawns are attracted by the NPC's like Miku and Jinnai, NOT you or your fellow party members. 96.233.187.105 09:48, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

As a ranger I had to do discord =/ Also brought a panic mes, RC Monk w/Mantra of Flame, SOS Rit, and an Ineptitude mesmer. As long as I didn't have more than a group and a half at a time I was OK. Kilaelya 06:34, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

This worked for me with a 7 heroes support; I camped in front of that door, killed the 5 groups that popped up there, and then went out to bring niku to me. First time she brought two groups with her and I was dead. Second time, being more lucky (but what would be WoC without luck) she just brought a few ennemies and little by little, I could deal with them all. The mages are just a pain (invert them, yea I know) they can wipe fast. Korgelen 5:51, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Easy Way HM[edit]

I don't understand with my Rt it went easy NM & HM camping the initial location... Now after failing 10+ times, I came here, and easily completed mission by: 1. Triggerring dialog 2. go to teleporter 3. camp the the stairs at cemeterry (use spirits to block beginning of the stairs with armor of unfeeling, they will aggro at bottom) and 2 panic mesmer will do the rest, after just take what u like... DeoX 19:20, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

[EDIT] Guess there's a lot of luck too, spend 2 hours failing on new character (always trampled by multiple groups), finally opted for a cons set, and when I popped it, only had to fight one to two groups at a time :'( DeoX 14:25, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Great tip, thanks! I helps to pull a couple of the first wave's so they don't attack en mass.
Miku will find you wherever you are, jinnai will stay at original spot and continually die as far as I have seen so far.
no jinnai will come to you on occassion, seems to be rare, but has happened on 2 characters now, bout to do this a 4th time in nm/hm--121.221.231.33 09:46, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

How I did it[edit]

I always read the strategies on these pages and try to include what I think will work for me. This took me about four tries of experimenting before I did what I thought would really work well.

To the north, there is a dead end at a door. I took my hero team: Rit,Rit,Me,N,N,N,E there and flagged the Rit,Rit,Me a little spaced against the door, with the Rits where their spirits could still hit towards the enemy. I flagged the rest of the party right in front and pretty close. I went to the dialogue spot, before it started, I popped a red rock candy - just started and sped back to the group (you will have to run through a spawned group in front of your Heros). Then I immediately popped a conset. Just stay there, DO NOT MOVE. It is way easy if you don't move. Basically if I travelled out, I wiped.

After about a 1/3 or more of my Conset was used up, I would venture carefully out and as soon as I thought a group was aggroed to Miku, I ran back to the group. If you do not want Miku to die, just stay against the door in the corner of your scaredy hole.

After you lure in one group at a time and kill them all, the last dialogue will begin and about a minute later the quest updates. YaY!

If you do not wish to use candy or a Conset, it's still doable, but you might have to make several tries to run back to your heros and actually pay attention and fight each group. :) Baron Pierre Lestat 10:49, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

This made me quit![edit]

I'd like to thank ArenaNet for the 7 years of an enjoyable game, I'd never had much trouble with any of the content until this quest but seeing the overwhelming zerg fest and trying to complete this quest for almost a week with absolutely no success trying all the above advise including some of my own, multi pal consets to no avail. I must quit this game and Guild Wars 2.

Thanks, CYA

Derp. You should have just added me and we'd roll it in 7 minutes. </3 --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 08:42, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Basicly Fuck Anet =D !

This is... just hard for me[edit]

I am trying to do it from January, always die. I even used conset, go to the cementery, and then die from hands of Ministry. Not worth the ritu hero for me. I tried all tips that are here above. It is just to hard. Even Rescue at Minister Cho's Estate was much easier than this for me. I think I am just noob even with 7HPS and its variations. 89.75.129.15 15:55, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, it's hard. I was finally able to do it by parking my 7-hero party north of the cemetery in that narrow corridor that has the closed door. Enemies do spawn there, but if you have your healers pinned back behind the rest of your party, near the door, you should be fine. I took 2 UA monks with me and a ST rit, then I had a SoS rit, a fire ele with Double Dragon (because I was playing a 100 blades tank warrior), a Panic mes, and a Keystone Signet mes. I camped in that corridor until the enemies stopped spawning, then I left my party in the corridor, and started pulling groups to us. Doing it this way, I had no problems at all; I didn't even need any consets. I highly recommend this corridor over the cemetery as you don't get swarmed by huge mobs. Now, if somebody can help me with When Kappa Attack (Hard mode) - it's the only quest I've been unable to complete. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 19:42, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

K.I.S.S.[edit]

Seriously though, after trying the advice I found on this wiki and failing a few times (which is not all that great, there were so many ways for something to go wrong), I just used the 7 hero support team found on PvX wiki, swapped out the SoLS spirit rit for a Soul Twisting support rit, and didn't even move from the location Jinnai was standing. Took like 6-7 minutes to complete by hammering anything that got within my aggro bubble to dust. I was running a Pain Inverter/SF ele, but any bar with high damage output should do just fine. Just remember to call out (ctrl+space) casters for the panic mes to shut down.--174.51.184.56 08:17, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Fear[edit]

Hello everybody, this quest is really in hard but i found a way to finish it. This are the builds i use:

Basic before you start the the conversation flag your hero's at the little grave yard. Put your normale flag all the way in left corner and flag other 3 hero's in a square to the left side of the grave yard.

The groups will walk to you one by one wiche make them easy to kill. also i was standing on top of the stairs so the mobs attack me and my pets and minions first so that my hero's wouldn't be targeted. what happen is that 1 mob is try to hit you from the lowerground wiche is not possible so they sent in 1 or 2 npc at a time. when that mob was gone they start to talk and my quest was over.

Initially a few came which was ok but then I was flooded by like 40 in one go - another wipe
