I've seen screenshots of an occasion where a runner had everyone pay right before said runner went up to kill the Fragment of Antiquities on a Remnant of Antiquities ZB day, then left after the ZB failed to update... without paying anyone back. This particular runner was just an idiot, from what I can tell, but since everyone in the group went along with it, it's safe to say that if someone wanted to genuinely scam people in this manner, it could work.
