Absolute feathers vs. theoretical feathers[edit]
So when we/I put data in here, would it be ideal to show the actual salvages or the theoretical salvages? From experience and others, I find that the Feathered Crests (JB) are about 3.5 feathers each, so when I'm calculating total feathers, I do feathers + 3.5 per crest. Setting a standard one way or the other might be a good idea. --Axis 07:41, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I understand your question. It has to be "data" on a data collection page. Why would you substitute an estimate? — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:25, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- Because not every Crest is created equally. Or rather, not everyone is going to get the same number of feathers from the same number of crests. A more accurate depiction would be to separate the feathers and the crests in the table. If there wasn't a variance, I'd be in complete agreement with you, but if it's already anecdotally how many feathers people got from their crests, then it's already an estimate. My goal is to reduce the variables involved here, since this is purely to document how 'lucky' the farm is, not how 'lucky' the salvages are. --Axis 21:29, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- If the goal is to determine the volume of feathers, then the source (direct drop vs. salvage) is (ahem) immaterial. If you're interested in all drops (feathers, crests, and e.g. golds, and all else), then, of course, keep track separately. The variance in crest→feather isn't going to be important to people who are interested in whether it's faster to farm in one location vs. another, since their primary target will be feathers from all sources. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:02, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- I can live with that and will add my data accordingly. --Axis 00:33, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
