Combo[edit]

Idea: Actually this might find some use with a 'somehow' smiting hero and a minion master. 85.16.15.169 14:55, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Just bear in mind that deaths caused by anything other than damage, such as degeneration, life steal, or other instant destruction effects on minions, will not trigger Intervention. MA Anathe
one time in RA my frenzy war took nearly 400 dmg from this spell, caught me by surprise too 76.26.189.65 11:27, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

buff[edit]

And the point of buffing this was...? Readem (talk*gwwcontribs) 22:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Flesh Golem + This x2 + Death Nova+ Putrid Explosion. Probably not the reason but not a bad idea. Barkingllama 06:23, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

1) How are you going to apply this twice. 2) Since it NEGATES the damage taken, Death Nova and this wont trigger at the same time. Not very useful. But yeah, this skill has potential. I'm sure it could be quite the life-saver in certain situations.LunarEffect 22:07, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I use it in RA with Smiter's Boon. Smiting Prayers doesn't have a lot of spammable target ally spells, so this one helps when my other spells are recharging. And, if you are low on health, it gives you extra time to heal yourself if they get you low enough. =P I like this spell. I know it's not useful outside of RA, CM and maybe TA, but there really shouldn't be a lot of skills that are powerful everywhere. 72.81.247.139 14:16, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Great when added to a Fast recharge-bad energy management monk in FA. You use it right before death, kill a local NpC, and respawn to go back and smite, when you run out of energy, repeat. ~Nelson(n122333)User N122333 sig image.jpg 01:33, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

No nearby foes?[edit]

What happens if say, there's no nearby foes, like the fatal damage is a longbow attack or a full range spell like lightning orb? Do you just die? Jmz 10:48, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Which part of "the damage is negated" is so hard to understand?   User Riven sigicon.png    22:11, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
But it doesn't count for Life stealing File:User Horsedrowner avatar.jpg horsedrowner 07:15, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
That has no relation to there being no foes nearby. Paddymew 16:55, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Oops, timestamps? --67.240.83.137 17:19, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

This with Divine Intervention[edit]

When you apply this on an ally with Divine Intervention, do both trigger at once (healing and damaging), or on what ever was applied first or second? --People of Antioch talk User People of Antioch sig.png 04:42, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure both are activated at the same time. Could be useful. User-Wandering Traveler Sig.png Wandering Traveler 04:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Tested. Unfortunately, they do NOT both activate, only the latter one triggers. However, this means that you can be saved from fatal damage twice, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. (Raine Valen 09:16, 18 August 2008 (UTC))

A good thing to note is that this spell has JUST 8 seconds of cooldown. It can prevent death and deal massive amounts of damage on just 8 second cooldown costing only 5 energy. --Alistair Cookie Ritualist-icon-small.png 21:10, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

The other great benefit is the tiny cast time of 1/4 second, which lets you use it in that crucial moment! =) LunarEffect 22:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Wow, I'm going to try this in a dungeon tonight. An ele boss was hitting me for 308 damage with aftershock, this could nulify the whole hit and melt his face! - Elder Angelus 14:53, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

55Hp or other cases[edit]

Does it work like Spirit Bond or not? It could be useful with a 55hp, since it's out dated.

Tried, it works.
It works well as a damage dealing spell, if you have an extra slot. I really only bring it when I'm farming undead, though. Briareus 17:51, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Heroes[edit]

If you stick this on a hero (MM in particular), will they use this effectively by casting this on allies/minions that are about to die?--66.91.82.73 04:40, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

They would spam it on minions. Lou Wolfskin 11:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
I tried this on a necro merc with Death Nova and got unsatisfactory results. The hero would use Death Nova normally, but rarely Judge's Intervention (JI). It would use JI considerably more when the minions were alive longer and experiencing faster rates of degen and when the party was out of combat. Once we got into combat it resisted using JI when it was presented with many opportunities to do so. Maybe the AI should be changed to be more like Divine Intervention versus Death Nova?. Anyone can confirm/deny these observations?--RiyazGuerra 21:13, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

2 years later... this last reply was written by a 1 time - 1 edit only user who didn't even share the build he/she was using. I suggest not to put more than 1 "near-death" skill on a same build. The hero will not have much chance to cast both or more on a target who is 1 hit away from death. Image if there is more than 1 target in the same situation as well. Underrated, imo.[edit]

This skill prots not only by negating the single-most-crucial packet of damage, but also by killing the damage source. If this skill were any stronger, it would be ridiculously imbalanced. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 22:47, 1 Feb 2011 (UTC)
