Hey im a lvl 20 w/m full gold. and i was wondering how are other w/m's should i hvae gone with maybe w/a?
WASD? Who would even think of such a thing when ESDF is so natural?[edit]
I just started playing GW this week, I was so surprised to see that WASD is still around. I thought that concept died with MS-DOS. I don't understand why anyone would publish a game recommending using WASD when ESDF is the home position for anyone with remedial typing skills. Keeping your hands on the home keys ASDF, you gain control over half the keyboard if you already know how to type. Why move them to the left and lose the natural range of keys learned from typing? I think a section should be added explaining the utility of an ESDF position. I would also like to see anyone try to defend WASD. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.229.150.63 (talk).
- Good for you, but I need to have the hand at the wads to keep Tab, Shift, Ctrl and Alt as close as possible. I don't care about the rest of the keyboard until I chat. MithTalk 15:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- WASD is preferred because it has been used for gaming for a significant amount of time, so while you base your key selection on what you as a typist find comfortable, most GAMEES find WASD more comfortable for GAMES, due to how often they have used it. Misery 15:08, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Backing Up[edit]
One constant frustration for me is that in a fight when you hit the key to back up; for some reason the camera flips and you are now backing into the Enemy. It would be nice if the Devs would put in a small patch to fix this let us actually pull back when we need to retreat.. As opposed to I am pulling back say South; no flip camera you ar now pulling back North into the bad guys.... because of course that is what you wanted to do right!. I cant be alone in finding this just frustrating. --69.255.123.188 14:34, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm assuming that when you back up, you are targeting the 'S' key. The 'X' (which makes you turn 180 degrees) is right underneath. If you happen to be hitting that one as well, you would turn around and back into the enemy. Is that what is happening? If so, you can reassign the turn function to another key. 76.164.65.219 19:58, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- I went and looked in game. In the Control tab of the Menu|Options panel, "Movement: Reverse Direction" is what you're looking for. 76.164.65.219 20:09, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- Another setting to check in Menu|Options under the General tab: "Double tap forward to autorun, backward to flip"
- If this is enabled, it could also be the cause of your turning around, if you hit the backup key several times. 76.164.65.219 05:02, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
