What is this page supposed to be about? PvP gets different armour as an award? 68.104.205.160 04:34, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

"Equipped immediately"[edit]

'The PvP Equipment panel will not allow the Equip Immediately to be checked when a PvP reward item is selected, instead stating "The selected item must be equipped immediately"'

This doesn't appear to make any sense. Should the word "checked" instead be "unchecked"? --Combatter 03:26, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Going up the "ranks"[edit]

I'm sure this page used to tell you that you couldn't buy anything other than Basic Weapons/Armor skins until you'd bought a certain amount of the basics. And the same for Exotic weapons until u bought enough Fancy ones. That seems to still be the case so where has that useful information gone? --Combatter 03:53, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Yeah found it on the old page, removed by anonymous: http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Tolkano&diff=prev&oldid=1760017 --24.98.199.160 20:12, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Might be necessary to reinstate that particular information, seeing as the unlock requirements currently appear to still be in effect. My wiki-fu is sub-par, so if a more experienced contributor would like to re-add the info I'd be much obliged. Talk‎ena. 15:54, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
For me this isn't in effect, as I have asked around I noticed that the only people who can't create their weapons without buying through tiers are those who have created their pvp character a long time ago. Can we confirm this, added extra information to the reqs. --Silven 11:37, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
^ Wrong. The bug seems to be account-related. Even on PvP characters created presently, my account is prompted with the "unlocks required" message. At first I thought it might be due to my using a PvE character to unlock (which would be about 5 years old, from before the unlock system changes), but further testing shows it affects PvP characters made long after the change aswell. Talk‎ena. 11:42, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
It appears that this is an account-related bug, where some accounts still have the unlock requirement in effect, while others have had it removed. This might be related to account creation date/age, though further data would be needed to confirm. Talk‎ena. 11:48, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
I haven't seen any updates that say the requirement should be removed, and every account I've tried is limited to only basic items. Can anyone confirm that it's officially a bug? Also, does anyone know a way to remove the limit if it is a bug? Thanks --76.114.80.153 21:22, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
First of all the 50 purchase req was removed from the wiki page and not restored despite all the relatively dilligent wiki people. Also, I know a lot of people who, despite having never purchased an item in their life, do not have the requirement. Either one way or another, this is a bug. Talk‎ena. 11:17, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Among people you know and don't have the requirement, is there anyone that actually bought a weapon, prior to oct 2009 update that modified pvp reward cost ? Elephant 12:12, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
I would have to ask to make sure. As it stands with what I know now, the puzzling thing is that despite not meeting the 50 purchase req, they do have access to higher tier rewards. Whether they purchased any before the reward cost update, I haven't asked, though I myself never purchased any PvP reward items before said update, and I *do* have the cap. I think it's unlikely to be related, but I'll look into it. Relatively few people bothered with PvP Rewards when they were still just TRP unlocks. Talk‎ena. 12:27, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
We have been unable to reproduce this issue. Reports received so far point to some early accounts having access to higher tiers of weapons without completing the purchasing prerequisites. We have not encountered any accounts that cannot access higher tiers no matter how many lower tier weapons they purchase, therefore I've amended the bug note on this page. Anyone who experiences the latter issue is encouraged to contact support. » Matthew Moore 17:54, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I just tried to purchase an exotic weapon with Reward Points, but was told by Tolkano that I needed to purchase 50 of the Fancy Weapons first. :/ HOWEVER, I am not sure if this makes a difference, but the character I tried to purchase the weapon with was made PvE, but I use her when I PvP and have had no issues with that up to this point. I even logged on my PvP only character to try it out, and I got the same thing. Obviously, you *DO* need to make the prerequisite purchases beforehand and this *DOES* need to put on the page. --VintageRose 01:55, 2 November 2010 (UTC) EDITED TO ADD: Also, if this a bug, then it *also* should be mentioned on the page, as it is a legitimate issue many people have. I know I was confused and looking for some info on why it wasn't working and the info isn't listed in the main article at all and should be.

Used for PvE?[edit]

Can these skins also be used for PvE? Say if I wanted a Greater Granite Edge, or another skin that isn't available in PvE, could I purchase it with zaishen coins, or can this only be equipped by PvP characters? And if my PvE char can't equip such an item, can my hero's? Sjeng talk 09:13, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

As mentioned in the Tolkano article, there's an anomaly where PvE characters can upgrade /bonus items. So if you have the EotN preorder Glacial Blade and don't mind the 15/enchant mod, yes, you can turn it into a Greater Granite Edge. Otherwise, you're out of luck. 68.118.250.100 20:13, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
But apparently you need tournament reward points, and that required that you play and win GvG... Furthermore, you need to buy 50 basic skins before you can buy a fancy skin, and 50 fancy skins before you can buy an exotic skin... So, well, that's where it ends for me then :P But it does work, you need to have the bonus weapon equipped though. Sjeng talk 16:25, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I actually reported that bug several months ago but it seems they never bothered fixing it but you can actually use Zaishen Coins as well...~Celestia 16:02, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
I've been wondering the same thing, and neither of these answers confirms it really... Can a PvE character in fact use these red weapons if he earns them, and also, are the weapons useable and trade-able between characters or unlocked on an account basis? One last thing, is armor unlocked in this way Red too, or blue like the rest? ~Farlo Talk 08:53, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm experiencing this bug; surprised they haven't fixed it yet. 220.244.124.125 09:09, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Only /bonus items can be upgraded using this for PvE characters. The items are trade-able, but only use-able by the character who upgrades them, seeing as any upgrade-able item is pre-customized. If you upgrade an item, only that item is upgraded. You can't make a new one without upgrading a new item and paying the cost. You can only change the mods if you're a PvP character and you upgraded a PvP item. You can't change the attribute requirements, and you can make multiple copies without paying for each individually. And all upgraded items are red, including armor. --76.22.247.48 02:11, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Can /bonus items be upgraded to Destroyer/Tormented weapons and dedicated in the Hall of Monuments? =D --Morgana1 09:21, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

needs updating[edit]

This pages needs to be updated. Costs have been reduced.60.234.197.191 13:15, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

50 weapons[edit]

Do the 50 weapons required for each tier have to be different? or could you, for example, buy 50 of the same weapon? File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 23:03, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

You could buy 50 of the same weapon. <3 Cobalt Staff. -- User Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 21:07, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
Well since I want to dye chart the items anyway I've bought 31 different fancy weapons so far.. run out of silver zcoins though and cba buying off players :D File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 21:35, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
You should play more pve. --SilvenUser Silven sig.jpg 12:01, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Derp. I hit top rank of pvp weapons ages ago. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 13:23, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
I meant play pve -> get monies -> get pvp items. It's how the pvers do it.--SilvenUser Silven sig.jpg 08:57, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
Tragically only worth it when you have a pvp character really.. only the serrated shield is vaguely useful to a pver. (lol tactics nvm..) --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 10:17, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
Get more pvp chars then -> make monies -> something. I don't remember where I was going with this, this conversation's old =D --SilvenUser Silven sig.jpg 10:07, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
Could do a caster spear. the 7ar phy mod is over-writable. Justice 03:07, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
