Bugged?[edit]

this skill does 256 damage to my monk. this is not funny Pixla 16:43, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, there is no way thats a 80 damage spell, kills me in 2 hits. God, and 3/4 second you cant even intruppt it either. range of it is about siege turtle range. this is broken...--Ryudo 21:22, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Easily one of the most broken bosses/monster skills in the game, yeah. Great way to turn away all but the most ardent l33tbois from finishing the storyline though. Great way of turning players of the game, too ... Clan Yumemiru 08:34, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Lol, if that is 80 damage they forgot to give out the damage multiplier in the skill description. Or that is 80 damage considering we have 100 Health. 201.37.45.159 01:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it's bugged, though. The damage isn't armor ignoring - if it were, then we would be hit for only 80 damage. But it isn't, so it follows the same kind of calculation as anything else, including the formula seen here: [Effective Damage] = [Skill Damage] × 2^((3 × [Character Level] - 60) / 40); which means, Cyndr would be doing 80 damage if he were level 20. He isn't, so his skills do more than 100% damage; painfully far more, as those who have fought him know >.> Doing the math, with Cyndr being a level 29 enemy, the damage done would be 127.xxx; given how Cyndr is a boss and therefore does double damage, one shot would do 255.xxx damage, which is fitting to what was mentioned above. Erasculio 01:46, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
oh wow thanks arenanet, i love getting killed in one shot Pixla 12:37, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, bug is not with a skill, it's in a description. Developers have hardcoded the value "80" in the skill text, but because it's not an armor-ignoring damage and it depends on caster's level, they should use a variable instead of a fixed value. This variable should be calculated every time when description is shown, counting the real level of Cyndr (for Normal/Hard mode, though it's not a case here). So we would see more real damage than now. And it would be much more honest. --Slavic 18:08, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
255 damage= your whole health bar?! u must be some kind of sup rune addict or somethin (seriously that does seem a little unfair:255 damage, doesnt it?)--Raph User Raph Sig.png 02:11, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Here's a tip, use either Protective Spirit or put some Minor runes on. — Eloc 03:15, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

This guy is utterly simple with the proper build, my team was all touch rangers with mantra of flame, we didn't have to break the carapace(vamp dmg goes thru it) and with the mantra we took almost no dmg. 6 touch rangers + 2 monks. killed him in about 15 seconds, no deaths

You can hero/hench this easily. Consumables help but aren't required. A good interupt and good defensive monk is required (both can be heros). Proper flagging of hero/henchies is required. Flag everyone apart, boost your speed so you can run kegs, once carapace is down, attack. Rinse, and repeat.72.161.101.116 21:28, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Touch Rangers with Mantra of Flame? You can't have 3 professions, bro. Morphy 16:57, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Mesmers[edit]

and you wonder why mesmers aren't wanted in PvE ...this isn't able to be disabled, disrupted or interrupted. What else do you use a mesmer for other than shutdown and interrupts? --Life Infusion «T» 19:16, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

able to be disabled. heh. --81.215.64.107 22:29, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm almost positive this can be inturrupted. I got my Pyre to B-head Arrow Cyndr when she was activating this skill, and Pyroclastic didn't cast.(Japanties 11:14, 9 October 2007 (UTC))
So he is not immune to daze when the carapace is active??--The preceding
this skill is easily interrupted with at least some timing. as you can count its recharge, and as you might know he'll immediately use it again. (ohh and try running something else then 8 casters, it helps!!) Rhydeble 17:00, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

To my notice, this skill CAN be interrupted, just not disabled. As long as you take a broad arrow head ranger w/ some interrupts, an interrupting Mesmer, and some nice hex and/or condition degen and some life steal, she goes down UBER fast. But ya, when I take that in HoS, she rarely gets a P.Shot out before death. --Pendulous Assassin 20:35, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Range[edit]

Oh, just so you know, this utterly ridiculous skill used by this utterly unnecessarily hard to kill boss (4 pips health regen, dumb invulnerability shield that has to be destroyed by dumping bundle items he can shoot out of your hands quicker than you can carry them to him) has around 3/4 compass range. I guess "smarter faster bosses in EotN" must somehow have gotten lost in translation in the design department ... Clan Yumemiru 10:30, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I feel your pain i had some of these problems also the few first times. But IMO he is overpowerd it takes him 2 shots to kill my necro @ 610 HP. I think they should rethink this boss it it's realy that they promised smarter and faster, give us smarter and faster bosses not a thing like cynder. he isn't a challange he is a big frustration and that is even worse. Cult Mephisto

I beat him easily on my 2nd time with a party of real people. — Eloc 00:52, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Just get an imbagon...The problem everyone has is his damage isn't armor ignoring. Once everyone has over 160 armor, you'll be walking through the quest like nothing else.

Poweder Keg Explosion[edit]

Why is this a note? That doesn't qualify as a note. SystemisFlawed

That better? — Eloc 20:28, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
