Talk:Searing Heat

Churning Heat is so much better than this in hard mode. Same damage scale, but an actually useful effect (seeing how 3 seconds of burning won't help as much as knockdown). --Life Infusion «T» 06:01, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

they should make this one burn for 3 seconds each time it hits instead of burning for 3 seconds when it ends, just like Eruption which got buffed long ago :o Aljazya 06:29, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
No, not really. That would make it do way too much damage (in effect 7 seconds of burning). It is fine just the way it is. 10:37, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
You mean Churning Earth...Sensali 19:36, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Marna and Captain Osric, in Ice tooth cave and Yak's bend respectively, do not sell this skill. I have tried both on my level 16 elementalist.

Do the enemies have to be in it 4 the full duration to get burning or just have clipped the last second?

Spell. Cause Searing Heat at target foe's location. For 5 seconds, foes near this location are struck for 10...34...40 fire damage each second. When Searing Heat ends, foes in the area of effect are set on fire for 3 seconds.
Concise description
Spell. Deals 10...34...40 fire damage each second (5 seconds). Hits foes near target's initial location. End effect: inflicts Burning condition (3 seconds).
It happens how it reads. When Searing Heat ends, foes in the area of effect are set on fire for 3 seconds. It mentions nothing about having to be in the heat the whole time. The good news about GW is that most skills (I think only about 10 are exceptions) function exactly how they are written. The ones that might be a bit ambiguous on function have notes (Glowing Gaze working with Mark of Rodgort).
