Talk:Seeking Blade
Useless[edit]
I've never seen anyone using Seeking Blade and no wonder, because it sucks. It doesn't have synergy with any other skill, and most other Warrior attack skills do more damage. Another so called "Monster skill" that is used only by monsters. --Teisei 09:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- The problem is that there aren't any skills that can grant your next attack becoming blocked, otherwise you could include it in a gimmick build. —ZerphaThe Improver 09:56, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah. And you can't even combine this with Gash ... if the foe successfully blocks Seeking Blade, you can only hope that the following Gash will land. A-Net should do something about this skill, as nobody ever uses it (except some beginners who don't have other skills.) I'd like to see this skill in use a little more in the future. In its current state, Seeking Blade is good for nothing, and exist only to increase Swordsmanship skill count. --Teisei 19:10, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Conceptually flawed; needs a change in mechanics. 'nuff said. Astralphoenix777 05:19, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe each of these "cause said condition + damage if blocked" skills should have an added effect where your next attack, within x sec., is cannot be blocked. then I guess they would get some fresh air, from being left in the skills and attribute's panel. -/- Discuss 19:50, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'd say adding damage would help a lot already without any coding involved. with today's damage meta, noone cares about the 20 damage. comparing it with defile defenses: almost same recharge +cast time, same energy, defile does 120dmg while this does 20. okay, defile is a curses skill, but sword was always "skill"-themed, with stuff like anti-block and riposte etc. might as well try to make it a somewhat more viable line in RA =) --92.106.107.68 20:28, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

How...[edit]
If its successfully blocked, how does it cause bleeding? Sense this make not...Headchopperz 02:38, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Why this skill is weak[edit]
Its counterparts in the other 2 warrior combat skill lines cause knockdown and deep wound which are tons more powerful than.... bleeding. Changing the condition on Seeking Blade to Crippled would make it useful. Also, this skill is weak for an energy base warrior skill. It's only useful for secondary warriors because warriors have better energy options (Bull's Strike, Mokele Smash, Thrill of Victory, even Power Attack is better). Solution: To keep this skill usable by warriors while not making it overpowered on R/W's, add "This skill does +3 damage for every 2 points of Strength".128.119.176.149 03:19, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Short answer (and someone correct me if I'm wrong): Skills like Seeking Blade and Griffon's Sweep will never be viable because they are very poor counters to blocking. If you hit, the enemy takes mediocre damage that you can't follow up on effectively. If you get blocked, the enemy receives a condition and you still can't follow up effectively, regardless of what the condition is. Bleeding is useless if Gash gets blocked, not to mention that Guardian and Natural Stride tend to come with condition removal. Knockdown is useless if the target gets up again without being hit. Likewise, cripple is only justifiable if you can kill the snared target. The ability to inflict damage, knockdowns, or conditions on demand is central to Warriors, making the element of chance unacceptable. It's much more profitable to attack an unprotected target with skills guaranteed to produce an effect if they hit, which is why physicals switch targets when a Guardian comes up. --Irgendwer 06:09, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Griffon's Sweep was widely played when it struck for +30 damage, recharged in 4 seconds, and was called Irresistible Blow (Pre-Sept 14th, 2006 update). I'm being facetious, of course, but they function identically. In any case, the original question from the IP wasn't why people don't use Seeking Blade. They wanted to know why Seeking Blade was created so much weaker than comparable skills. MA Anathe 02:50, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Skill Change[edit]
I think I'd like to see a skill change something along the lines of this. Seeking Blade: Skill. Your next 1..3..3 attacks(/attack skills) cause bleeding while wielding a sword. If these attacks are blocked your target takes 1..16..20 damage. 10energy, 1/2cast, 12recharge
