Decoder[edit]

article states langmar takes the decoder when you accept the quest, does he offer you another one afterwards?

Yes, you can get a new decoder from her at any time, but you will need to find a new battle plan. --Valshia 20:45, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Minion Master[edit]

After doing this 3 times, I found a minion master hero to be awfully useful. The note seems pretty misleading. Going down the stairs to confront the charr at the bottom, there was plenty of time, and the minions did lots of damage and soaked lots of attacks. I would definitely recommend bringing a mm hero with you! Ooom 03:05, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Requirements[edit]

I saw the requirement for these quests was completion of the Vanguard mission tier. I was wondering.. Is that for the party leader only? If I've done it but other people in my group haven't can we still enter the quest? Magic User Magic Signature Ico.jpg Talk 03:34, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Impossible with H/H?[edit]

Even with a minion master hero with aura I found this impossible, failing 3 times already. Far too many mobs coming up all at the same time. I also had 3 eles nuking the mobs, with a bip healer feeding them from a safe distance from behind, but to no avail. I even tried it as a monk with a protection build and the eles all casting wards, but the damage was too high even in normal mode. When there are 40+ Charr, one volley in normal mode will wipe any character under 1600 hp. And because you get over 40 Charr in under 1 min plus continued waves thereafter, you don't have time to ressurrect unless you have UA. Any attempt to use other kinds of Res takes too long, allowing for 2 more to die for every 1 you resurrect. I think unless you have real players who will not run down the stairs by themselves it may be possible, but I would not recommend wasting this particular mission if you only have access to heros/henches. My last try was a discordway h/h which did even worse, wiping fairly early, although I sort of suspected that would happen since discord is more effective with smaller numbers of high hp things and tends to fall apart very easily with larger numbers which have extensive ranged attacks.

Part of the problem also is that you have no control over the positioning of the Ascalon soldiers, who simply run off toward anything that aggros them. That basically means the 2 farthest soldiers at the bottom of the stairs will die almost immediately unless you have a monk wasting a ton of energy healing them as they attempt to solo a mob of 20+ Charr, each. As a monk I tried healing and protecting them for awhile, but they run off in different directions down the path making it impossible to heal both at the same time. Extensive hexes and conditions somehow kill many of the others who are otherwise protected behind the walls of the courthouse, and they simply stand idle while being hexed to death. Worse yet is that their stationed positions are mostly out of spell range from where the best defense can be made, so you can't just stand and heal. However, none of that is of particular concern since only 1 of them has to survive I believe. The mission might be doable if you could position the soldiers, much like one does in other missions.

Another way to do this might be to have an obi tank or perma aggro them all at the bottom of the stairs. Although the stairs do naturally clump them up a bit, it is not enough since they will draw out along the entire length of the stairs and run up and down to avoid AoE spells. Minions barely lasted a few seconds since multiple AoE spells from meteor storm and fire storm quickly melted them away. Rit channelling spirits seemed to help alot in one try, but as they are skill bar hogs, it makes self protection very difficult, leading to a higher dp. --Rpger 05:02, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

The trick I found was to be aggressive - rather than sitting like a duck in the courthouse and trying to defend the headquarters, pursue the Charr and fight them at their spawn points. Any stragglers that get through can be dealt with by the Ascalon Soldiers, usually. This works better with a human party of course, but it's possible with the right set-up of H/H too. I easily completed the other types of battle plan missions without prior trials, so I just wanted to indicate the Courthouse mission is by far the most difficult of the three mission types. The problem is you can't try out different strategies since the battle plans are random drops. It took 3+ months to accumulate the 3 courthouse plans and it was obvious from the start the Ascalon soldiers were far too weak to fight on their own. Although I did think of going down one path since the Charr converge from 2 directions, there is no way to predict exactly how sturdy the Ascalon soldiers are, and no one in their right mind will risk experimenting when there is no leeway to experiment... otherwise you risk wasting several months of effort, not just a few minutes. --Rpger 05:29, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Two years (and a lot of new builds later) I found this mission in NM to be like a walk in the park. I brought an aura of lich minion master, panic, st, sos, ineptitude, hb, ua and me as a savannah heat ele with a few ebon skills. No problems at all, but I wouldn't want to do this mission in HM. 84.161.111.36 22:12, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
Seriously, can we stop abbreviating everything? st? sos? sbon? I'm old; please don't attack me. I just cannot follow all of these abbreviations! Savannah makes sense, though! Seriously; you people are using terms we new folk don't understand! Please be inclusive! --196.52.2.50 23:13, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

Region[edit]

Isn't the region field of the Quest infobox supposed to be where quest giver is located, instead of where the quest is played? At least that's what the description on Template:Quest infobox says. User Zeptozoid sig.png Zeptozoid 22:29, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

600?[edit]

This special ops seems too long to be able to 600 to me.. seeing as distracting shot / meteor shower and friends are almost maintained during the quest I was wondering if it would work with a ranger for QZ. [ energy wasn't a problem but eventually powerblock / dshot / KD seems to kill me ] any ideas for improvement? --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 13:30, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
