Cirian Fairlight[edit]

Cirian Fairlight

Birth[edit]

In the wild borderlands of Ascalon, Cirian Fairlight was born into a family of minor noblity. Regarded by their "civilised" counterparts in the cities as barbarians, the country nobles knew how to hunt their ancestral lands and had the duty of keeping the common people safe from wolves and beasts. The country folk were close to their land and its lore; Cirian was immersed in the wild ways and embraced the sanctity of virtue. For, it is the role of nobles to embody the strength and courage of a race, to be the strong and just arm of their people.

When he came of age, Cirian was sent out from his lands to wander and discover the world with his own senses. His family was a strong one, and sons would often not return for many years.

And so it was, after a few short years, that Cirian found himself wandering through the gates of Ascalon City on the eve of its destruction. The pleasant land and carefree people charmed him so, and it seemed inconcievable that such an atmosphere could be broken.

Beyond Ascalon[edit]

The Searing marked the beginning of a new chapter in Cirian's life, in which he would escape his shattered homeland for the new land of Kryta. Joining forces with Prince Rurik's Vanguard, Cirian saved many Ascalonian lives during the crossing of the Shiverpeaks. Arriving in the Krytan capital of Lion's Arch following the death of Rurik and the dispersion of the Ascalonian settlers in their new homeland, Cirian joined the White Mantle in their battle against the Undead of Orr.

His new allies were not what they seemed, however.

The White Mantle served the Mursaat, a powerful and evil race known simply as the Unseen Ones. It was the practice of the White Mantle to find and sacrifice humans dubbed "the Chosen" in a dark ritual made upon the Bloodstones of Maguuma. "Chosen" were humans of great potential, powerful enough to eventually pose a risk to the Unseen Ones and this is why they were sacrificed upon discovery. In the depths of the Maguuma jungle, Cirian met a rebel group opposed to the sacrifices and the White Mantle known as the Shining Blade. Betraying the White Mantle, Cirian joined forces with the Shining Blade and their ally, Vizier Khilbron. Under the guidance of the Vizier, Cirian fled to the Crystal Desert to embark upon one of the greatest trials of his life: the Trials of Ascension.

Gods and Dragons[edit]

Many ancient wonders greeted Cirian in the Trials. It was here that Cirian learned techniques of extraordinary power and faced the dragon-prophet Glint. It was Glint that told Cirian of the Flameseeker Prophecy, and Glint that sent him on to the dwarven city of Droknar's Forge to fulfil it.

And so it was, that Cirian found himself once more in the Shiverpeak Mountains and the warm company of dwarves. The dwarves were beset with civil war, but once more Cirian was able to aid the Shining Blade in their battle against the Mursaat. Eventually the Mursaat's hold on the Shiverpeaks was broken at the battle of Thunderhead Keep, and an expedition was organised to attack the Mursaat stronghold of Abaddon's Mouth on the Fire Islands across the seas.

Landing at the Fire Islands, Cirian and his companions made swift progress to the keep of Abaddon's Mouth. As the Mursaat champions fell, Vizier Khilbron bade Cirian to release the Titans from the arcane prison the Mursaat had built to hold them, thus finalising their downfall. As the titans emerged from their shattered prison, Vizier Khilbron showed his hand.

Revealing himself to have been transformed into a mighty lich at the moment his homeland of Orr was destroyed and the ultimate master of the undead that had been plaguing Kryta, Vizier Khilbron bound the titans to his will. Recognising that one great enemy had simply been replaced by another, Cirian swiftly put down the Vizier's madness and re-sealed the titan's prison before their escape was complete. The lich was destroyed, but many titans had already spread across the world of Tyria. Once more, Cirian heard the voice of the dragon-prophet Glint and was told that the Flameseeker Prophesy was now complete. Weary, Cirian returned to the Shining Blade who had made the Henge of Denravi their home in the heart of the Maguuma.

Spiritual Horizons[edit]

At his new home in Maguuma, Cirian learned from the spirits of the druids that his ancestors had come from here, long ago, and had taken with them a portion of their Druidic lore to the lands of Ascalon. Cirian decided to stay and learn what he would of the old lore, and perhaps learn how the old ones had transcended the flesh.
