The Book of Sorrow - The tale of Uri Osendaughter

The Dark before Dawn - 1274 DR (Elonian Calender)

Chapter 1; The darkest point

Uri gently stroked the hair of her sister, Illia. She lay so peacefully that she could almost be asleep, there was no rent in her smooth, slightly darkened skin, no pained expression. Killed by dark magic, by an army she had once dreamed of fighting for. Now Illia was dead, and Uri had no where left to turn. The sun began to set, bathing the sister's faces in a deep orange glow, Uri looked up for a second, then back to her sister. The gently sea breeze ruffled Uri's short hair, almost as if her sister was running her hand through the slightly red-tinged hair. A single tear rolled down Uri's face as she reached out a hand to stroke Illia's long, red hair.

A second tear joined the first as Uri ran her thumb along Illia's cheek. Tears were freely flowing by the time she's bent over her sister and kissed her tenderly on the cheek. Only to jerk upright as someone spoke nearby.

"How touching." She span, seeing a Korman soldier standing nearby. He grinned viciously, and she finally guessed his intentions.

"You dare? After doing what you did to our village?" She narrowed her eyes, she'd carelessly dropped her spear to carry Illia to this place, the place her sister loved so much, almost as much as her sister. It had been painful to leave her the first time, now she knew how painful it was to be left.

"I do. I'd like to see you stop me too." Uri knew he spoke the truth, but it didn't make it easy to accept. She stood, taking a defeated stance.

"Go on then, take every last thing from me." Her sorrow welled, it gave her strength. She would avenge her sister, her family, her people however she could. But first she would deal with this fool. He moved closer, first abandoning his shield within her reach, then, with sword at her neck, began to unstrap her armour. She tempted him a little, letting him pull it mostly off, then when his attention was focused on the last strap rolled sideways, and slammed his shield into the ugly face. Dazed he fell to the floor, Uri pulled his sword from his hand and impaled it deep into his groin. Pain and shock cut through his dazed state, but his screams of pain were stifled by a surprisingly strong hand placed over his mouth.

"I shall leave you to die a horrible painful death, not just for what you tried now, but to give you a chance to repent all your sins to the five Gods, because if you don't want Grenth to torture you endlessly, I suggest you use this chance." She pulled the blade out once again and drove it into his stomach. Two deadly wounds that would bleed until his death.

Leaving his in screams of pain she picked up her sister, and carried her back to the village. This time making sure her spear and shield were in easy reach. Laying her sister to rest on her bed she kissed the dead woman's lips.

"I will avenge you sister. I shall punish all those that have cut the bond between us short. Those that kill without reason. This I vow to you. And nothing in Elona, not even the gods, will stop me."

Chapter 2; Mái's last stand

Mái looked out over the dusty plain, his horse stood relaxed, the two had forged a great bond in their time together.
