Some other things you should know about me, mixed with my thoughts on GW. I'll be adding to it as I go along. I suppose this is my commentary on gameplay as I experience it:
- I'm generally a nice person. I also have bad days. Depending on the latter, you'll often catch me either defending non-gimmicky Assassins in JQ, or spouting obnoxious internet memes in an attempt to be, well, obnoxious. I'll either say gg, or I'll snark about your RTL RA sync being gimmicky. I pray I have few bad days.
- I have insanely fast reflexes. I've D-Shotted Patient Spirit before (apparently my screenshotting skills aren't as l33t, sadly). If you randomly sprinkle interrupts on me when I'm playing my Prot Monk in JQ, just hoping to hit something that isn't "Make Haste!", I will give you a hard time for it. Along that same vein, if I miss something as pathetically easy to interrupt as Healing Breeze, it usually means I've either lagged or my interrupts are recharging (or, on my off days, I'll just mess it up). Saying, "LOLOLOL U SUCK AS A RANGER U MISSED IT RANDOM INTERRUPTS ARE RANDOM," will just make me headdesk and lose a little more faith in humanity.
- I enjoy Diverting things like WoH, Palm Strike, Burning Arrow, Melandru's Shot and Seerin Flooms. I really enjoy when they RAEG about it in All Chat.
- I despise the Jesus Beam in JQ. I despise it with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. If you want to nuke, play an Ele. If you must, must, MUST use the Jesus Beam, please, for all that is good and green on this earth, bring some form of hex and condition removal. I can't count the number of matches I played on my Mesmer or my Ranger or my Necro where I watched a mine bleed to death after a botched bombing, because the RoJ Monk was off nuking a guardpost or spamming Heal Area while inside the mine, bleeding to death as well, or just standing there going, "HURR Y DAT BAR PINK AND GOING DOWN HURR."
- Also, RoJ Monks should not give me a hard time for choosing to be a Prot Monk instead of an RoJ Monk. No, that does not make me a noob. No, that does not make me a griefer. No, that does not make me an idiot. No, you may not report me for leeching for just running a Prot build instead of RoJ. My job is to hold mines and prevent them from being capped in the first place. If you, an RoJ Monk, lose a mine to another's RoJ or to a Bomber, something easily countered with Dismiss Condition, I will laugh at you.
- I use proper grammar and punctuation and spelling as often as I can. There is a difference between bad spelling and typos. If you tell me, "Your stupid," I'll usually reply with, "What about my stupid? I've lost it, have you seen it?"
- All my PvE characters have actual names. I am a roleplayer. Because of that, I am loathe to name my characters stuff like, "FaRR ShOt XxXxXxO." My PvE characters have names and backgrounds and histories with each other and with the Henchies and the Heroes. My PvP characters, however, are not bound by such rules. I will name my PvP characters anything that's appropriate to get them ready to play. Therefore, calling me a PvE scrub while on my PvP character, because that character has a rather dull, unimaginative name will just make me /facepalm IRL. And then I'll laugh at you.
- I really am a nice, kind, friendly person to play with. I enjoy helping other players out. I laugh and joke and will usually jump back up and run back into combat if we wipe. I've never raegquit. But I am not a doormat. My boyfriend is my top priority, followed by my guildies. All I ask is for that to be respected.
- Healing Breeze is a skill that should be banned from JQ unless you know how to use it properly (i.e., don't spam it like it's Signet of Lost Souls). When running a Necrobomber hate build on my own Necro, this exchange happened between me and a Luxon Monk, who apparently had Healing Breeze as his only heal:
- Monk: Healing Breeze on the Turtle
- Me: Rip Enchantment
- Monk: Healing Breeze
- Me: Corrupt Enchantment
- Monk: Healing Breeze
- Me: Gaze of Contempt
- Monk: Healing Breeze
- Me: Rip Enchantment
- Monk: Healing Breeze
- Me: Corrupt Enchantment
... You can guess who ran out of energy first.
- Using Visions of Regret does not automatically make you a SUPERAWESOMETASTIC Mesmer. Favorite moment in PvP: making someone raegquit because I Power Blocked their VoR.
- Along the same lines, what I said above about running a Prot Monk build instead of an RoJ Monk build applies here as well. Just because I choose to run Power Block over VoR doesn't mean that I'm a noob Mesmer. VoR sure is hell isn't going to shut down an RoJ Monk mid-cast.
- Melandru's Shot: even with the extra recharge time, it's not a half-bad elite, if used properly. Like so:
- Proper use: Using it on a relic runner. Using it on a flag runner in RA. Using it on a Turtle or Juggernaut in JQ. Using it on a Monk in FA as they frantically run through the Green gate to heal Gunther. What do all these have in common? They're. Moving. Targets.
- Improper use: Using it on a stationary Mesmer as they cast Empathy on you. Using it on a stationary Ranger as they use Burning Arrow on you. Using it on a stationary Monk as they stand by a mine in JQ, and then promptly use Dismiss Condition. What is wrong with this usage? Congratulations, you've caused 25 seconds of 3 pips of health degen, countered by Dismiss Condition, Mending Touch, Troll Unguent, or Ether Feast since, as a Ranger, you probably didn't bring any Hex removal into PvP, and you've still got Empathy on you.
- Please, please, don't copy PvX builds and use them in PvP without any knowledge of how they work or for where they were intended. A RaO spear-chucking beastmaster can work wonderfully in RA or TA, but in JQ, where you res 10 seconds later and you spend most of the match running all over the map, chasing Luxons around and complaining about energy management, because you're not using proper equipment, it isn't as optimal. Learn to use a build before bringing it into PvP. Try it in PvE. Try it on the Isle of the Nameless. Try it with your guildies. Don't just drop yourself cold into PvP, without having ever used a build before, and then complain when the build doesn't work for you.
