Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that this wiki community is dominated by clueless wikinoobs. Being a noob isn't a bad thing, unless it is a consequence of willful ignorance. I've decided to stop wasting my time trying to teach and improve this wiki. I am instead going to take a two-fold approach to making contributions elsewhere on the net: 1) I am setting up my own wiki, to be administered competently and by using guidelines established by far larger, more experienced wikis (i.e. Wikipedia) rather than the regressive mentality that prevails here, and 2) any additional contributions that I care to make to public wikis will go to GuildWiki instead of GWW.
The new wiki I am setting up will remain private while I hammer out the policy details, and get core content and templates added into it, and finally put it on the public web with a domain name. It will then be gradually rolled out on a limited basis as time and bandwidth allows. My goal is not to compete with any existing wiki, but rather have a convenient wiki resource of my own, untainted by moronic decisions made by people who don't understand how to use wiki software. If others prefer that approach also, they are also welcome to use it as well. I neither invite nor refuse other visitors.
Initially, content will consist of articles pulled from GuildWiki and PvX, both of which have non-commercial licenses that will be compatible with my wiki, and not compatible with GWW. My wiki will also interlink to these wikis, where possible, in order to reduce unnecessary repetition.
I will be posting the URL of the new wiki when a hosting solution is prepared.
ArenaNet, if you care about the official wiki at all, it would help to install sysops that actually understand the MediaWiki software and have them set core policies to prevent users and admins from doing stupid things with it.
Sincerely,
