Hero builds[edit]

I didn't realize I left it marked as minor, my bad. I was also reverting it because I didn't see that you were doing that for all of the heroes and I had no idea if we wanted something that big and colorful in the middle of a page when the list has the same function in less space (and easier to read, at least for me). Also, I think you should transcribe the dialogue from when a hero is added if you're going to remove the image all together, don't just drop it off and have an edit summary telling someone else to do it. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 23:16, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Are you referring to one or both templates? I can agree that {{build}} could be improved to use more subdued colors and sizes, but I don't really see a reason not to use {{skill bar}}, as that actually saves vertical scrolling in addition to being more illustrative (IMO). If the problem is primarily with the {{build}} template, maybe there is a way to improve on that, or otherwise I am fine with not using it.
With respect to the image text, I think it is the responsibility of the person adding it to do the job right. The text itself is unnecessary as it adds nothing of substance. The placement of the image disrupts the page layout. If someone considers the unlock text to be worth having just because it's from the game, then they should be the ones to transcribe it rather than leaving the job to someone else. Failing that, I would also be agreeable to adding the image back if you can find a place for it that does not intrude on the standard section layout. Oroku and reversions[edit]

GWW's 1 revert rule states that "Each editor may not perform more than one related revert on any given part of a page...until a consensus is reached." By twice removing the same {{other uses}} tag from Oroku (crafter), you have gone against this policy designed to foster discussion and avoid revert warring.

I have attempted to start that discussion on the relevant talk page. I ask that, while consensus is pending, you revert your last edit. Thank you. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:27, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Of course I am happy to discuss any issue where there is an objection. However, I believe you have misread or misapplied 1RR with regard to my edits: I performed a single revert, my original edit was not a revert, I edited (to remove the tag) and was reverted by someone else. To claim that I violated 1RR is a claim that every original edit is in itself a revert, which by any reasonable judgment would be false. Hold Me Closer, Necromancer 02:07, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Never mind. I see that the policy defines removal of any form as a revert. Not exactly the most sensible guideline, but the hatnote is too small an issue to get bent up about, so whatever, I'll leave it be. Hold Me Closer, Necromancer 02:20, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I agree the hatnote's a little dumb, you could probably change it by bringing it up on the right policy talk page, I would but I can only get on from work so I'm usually too busy to remember that sort of thing and find the right page and stuff 24.130.140.36 02:33, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Duplication[edit]

Why are you duplicating existing files and templates? Wouldn't it make more sense to build consensus for your ideas? Either you will succeed (seems likely) and others will be able to help trickle down the changes...or the community will decide otherwise, which would deprecate the new pages in favor of the old. Is there a reason to rush this?

Duplication results in more work for everyone, including yourself. 75.36.181.30 02:37, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Well, if I'm causing you any distress, I apologize for that, and seeing as I have enough material to test for new functionality, I don't really need or plan to continue adding more new stuff. I'm not particularly concerned about the community rejecting my attempts to improve the wiki, as in the worst case I'll be reusing my code in my userspace, and the images can be worked around. It's work that I'll be doing for my own sake anyway, so even if it is deleted from mainspace it's not a wasted effort for me. The "rush" is so that I can test larger templates that I'm working on in my userspace. Unlike some of the contributors here, my main interest is to create and improve features of the wiki rather than merely defend the status quo.
