On Pugs:
It is the best of times. It is the worst of times. Generally I will choose H/H over PUGs, but that's normally because my henchmen don't seem to mind if I idle to ID items or answer the phone. I've had some miraculous success with PUGs though, and will randomly join up, just for kicks. I figure I'm no worse off if we fail, I can try later with guildies or H/H :D
On PvE Skills:
Once GW2 was announced, I figured A-Net would be trying to encourage players to complete their HoM by making certain things easier. Since raising the level cap would have broken the game, they tried to give us a bit more power in the form of PvE skills and consumables.
The consumables are a money sink, and I rarely use them, but being able to recover in an emergency is a nice option. The skills are fun, but I'm glad they are limited to 3 on a bar. Ursan was IMBA-can-sleep-while-playing, which is boring. Echoing certain PvE skills can be just as bad, but I heart Pain Inverter nonetheless. :D The associated title effects are a great help in vanquishing certain areas, and as for the grind, I normally do it in short bursts or wait for bonus weekends to improve my other characters' rank.
Vanquishing:
I'm having a lot of fun with Hard Mode, although it's slow going.
Prophecies: Completed all missions in Old Ascalon, and a few scattered others. Continent....so... Huge...must..take..break.
Factions: Stuck at Tahnnakai Temple with H/H, so I dragged a guildie along. It went great until Togo decided to lag behind and wand some enemies we'd ran past. Whee. Almost halfway done with vanquishing.
Nightfall: Completed all missions & explorable areas in Istan and Kourna. I randomly helped someone beat Gate of Madness in HM at 3 am, and we sailed through. (Lucky PUG FTW)
EotN: Have all but the Ebon Vanguard areas completed, as I'm waiting until I beat Duncan one last time for my final NM book. (Keeping my EV rank at 7 until then for maximum reward & least amount of grind possible.) I cleared most of it with H/H during a double faction weekend.
The Underworld:
BNKY dying last year in our first official trip to the UW as 6-month old newbies: 2 plat
A handful of dual-farming trips that eventually resulted in our deaths: Countless plat
5 guildies, spiders and HoM statues for all: Priceless
Update (10/5): I <3 my little guild. We've spent a lot of time in the UW lately, scouting, getting spiders and generally learning the quests and monsters. Yes, we could just dig around for cookie cutter builds and instant-solutions, but this way is much more fun. We'll have our HoM statues next trip. To celebrate, I threw together a beast master build, took my Lolth-spider out to Augury Rock and beat my Doppelganger in HM.
Slaver's Exile:
After PUGing Duncan (without the infamous Ursan) I am now helping guildies through. I think I'm really starting to loathe those dwarves.
Domain of Anguish:
The most aptly named place in all of Guild Wars. Really. As a guild, we have completed City of Torc'qua. Can't wait to finish the rest, eventually, if we're lucky.
