Bows[edit]

Current:[edit]

  • Base:
    • Maximum damage range1: 15 - 28.
    • Damage type: Piercing damage.
    • Attack rate/interval: Depends on bow class, see below.
    • Range: Depends on bow class, see below.
    • Projectile flight time and arc size: Depends on bow class. This influences how high the bow's arrows fly, determining accuracy on moving targets and for interrupts, as well as the steepness of hills that will obscure shots.
  • Modifiers:
    • Unsalvagable inherent in from Prophecies, Factions and the Realms of the Gods or salvagable inscription in Nightfall, Eye of the North, the Bonus Mission pack and the Battle Isles.
    • Bowstring (name prefix)
    • Bow Grip (suffix).

Flatbows[edit]

Current:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.0 seconds.
  • Range: 1.35
  • Projectile flight time: 0.88 seconds (at Shortbow range).
  • Arc: High.

Proposed:[edit]

71.174.22.127's Proposal:[edit]

  • Projectile flight time: 0.5 seconds at shortbow range.
  • Arc:High.
    • With the nerf to Read the Wind, flatbows are essentially useless. Decreasing the flight time makes them useful again. To balance this, the range is decreased to that of a recurve bow. The high arc is good because it makes you less likely to be obstructed. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.174.22.127 (talk).

Hornbows[edit]

Current:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.7 seconds.
  • Range: 1.2
  • Projectile flight time: 0.59 seconds (at Shortbow range).
  • Arc: Medium.
  • Other: 10% Armor Penetration.

Proposed:[edit]

Raine's Proposal:[edit]

  • Projectile flight time: 0.2 seconds (at Shortbow range).
  • Arc: Very low.
  • Other: 5% Armor Penetration.
    • I'd wager that Hornbows were originally intended to be the "big damage" bows. However, this purpose has fallen out of use when a ranger can get +40 damage on attack skills with no real drawback. Because the need for a bow type to deal high damage has ceased to exist, the hornbow has fallen out of favor. So, instead of raising the damage to the point where rspike becomes instagib (well, more so), I've increased the projectile speed. This was done firstly to create a use for them (the projectile speed makes them ideal for interrupts and hard-to-dodge cripples), and secondly because it makes sense: the bow is stiffer, harder to pull, so it takes longer, but has a more powerful shot: hence, fast flight and 5% AP. Hopefully, this change is enough to bring hornbows back into normal use. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 20:14, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Wuhy's Proposal:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.5 seconds.
  • Other: 15% Armor Penetration.
    • I would not like to see bows lose their original functionality so i increased the AP on this one and lowered refire a bit, can hit hard but dodgeable, like it is now, but a bit better overall... It's two handed afterall - Wuhy User Wuhy sig.jpg 16:43, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Longbows[edit]

Current:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.4 seconds.
  • Range: 1.35
  • Projectile flight time: 0.59 seconds (at Shortbow range).
  • Arc: Medium.

Proposed:[edit]

Wuhy's Proposal:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.2 seconds.
    • General buff that all bows need. - Wuhy User Wuhy sig.jpg 16:43, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Recurve Bows[edit]

Current:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.4 seconds.
  • Range: 1.2
  • Projectile flight time: 0.4 seconds (at Shortbow range).
  • Arc: Low.

Proposed:[edit]

Wuhy's Proposal:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.3 seconds.
    • General buff that all bows need. - Wuhy User Wuhy sig.jpg 16:43, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Shortbows[edit]

Current:[edit]

  • Attack rate/interval: 2.0 seconds.
  • Range: 1.0
  • Projectile flight time: 0.59 seconds.
  • Arc: Medium.

Proposed:[edit]

71.174.22.127's Proposal:[edit]

  • Attack interval: 1.75 seconds.
    • Shortbows are designed to be fast firing bows without the flight time of a flatbow. However, the short range cripples them. You can't fight ranged NPCs effectively with this because they'll aggro you and rangers have bad healing skills. To fix this, the attack interval has been made competitive with that of a spear.71.174.22.127 17:17, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
