Expertise[edit]

Expertise now only affects ranger skills to prevent abuse, reduced its effectiveness to 3% per rank to eliminate the dire need for it, lowered the average energy cost of bow attacks. - Wuhy User Wuhy sig.jpg 17:07, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

  • 5Energy Skill. (1...3...3 seconds.) The next time you would be hit by an attack, that attack misses and Dodge ends. If Dodge ends prematurely, you gain 3...1...1 Energy if you are not Enchanted. If Dodge lasts its full duration, it is disabled for 10 seconds.
    • While there was nothing terribly wrong with Dodge before, I took the opportunity to make an unused skill into something... cool. Let me explain how this skill works now. It works a lot like a spammable Shield Bash, saving the user from one attack. However, it requires a fair amount of skill to use on a Ranger secondary: if the user doesn't Dodge at the right moment, they'll not only lose the energy that they put into the skill, but they'll lose the ability to use it for ten seconds, leaving them open. However, if they do manage to successfully Dodge an attack, they'll regain most of the energy they invested, enabling a player to Dodge a series of attacks provided they time it correctly. The inversely-proportional energy gain is for an obvious reason: a Ranger with high Expertise using this skill would be able to make a net gain of energy were this not the case.     • Dodge is in the trash bin because if it didn't end on attacking, people would run it with Lightning Reflexes and its echo, which would mean permanent immunity to ranged attacks.
