As stated before, those who do not wish to bring companions will be compensated.

Advantages for Those Without Companions[edit]

First of all, the disadvantages listed for each of the mounts will obviously not affect those who choose not to bring mounts. Then there is the case of the Charr whose mounts cost them allegiance with their legions. Advantages offered by the upper echelons of the Charr legions, therefore, must be stronger than normal to compensate for Charr having to limit their usage of mounts. Furthermore, so that mountless characters can keep up with their party members, all players who do not bring mounts will be capable of running at 11% above average speed for about 15 minutes at a time. However, they will be easier to knock down at this speed and they have slower acceleration than most mounts. Also, those who reach level 6 allegiance with the Blood or Ash legions will be capable of running at 22% above average for about seven minutes tops.

To compensate further, all mounts will be capable of carrying passengers. Norn can carry an Asura or Sylvari on their back. Golems ad Jagganathen should be able to carry a second character on their back, and, obviously, Human mounts can carry a second person as well. However, some Charr siege beasts can carry 3 or more (especially siege devourers and siege towers). All passengers can use their skills while mounted, but only animal mounts allow passengers to use both their weapons and skills in battle. Mounts with passengers will exhaust a little more quickly and have slower acceleration. Lastly, bringing mounts of any kind temporarily decreases your race-specific attribute by a certain amount.

This was a rather short article, and if anyone has suggestions on how to further compensate those who do not use mounts/companions, please leave your suggestions in the discussion box.
