Preface[edit]

A very old build I used to play before they released any expansions of the original game. The damage is pretty bad and you probably won't score any kills unless you successfully interrupt Word of Healing Word of Healing with Savage Slash Savage Slash. While your allies and foes will typically insult you as being a noob, ignore those comments and have fun playing non-gimmicks. A memorable achievement with this build has been to win a 4 versus 1 (this bar) battle where I soloed a whole team by myself. We had a balanced team with a monk and we faced some crazy hexway/condiway with Fevered Dreams Fevered Dreams. Our monk could not cope up with the ridiculous condition spread (we balled...yeah not very smart) and the rez control got to us after a couple of deaths. The enemy team had a Melandru's Shot Melandru's Shot Ranger, an Axe Warrior, Fevered Dreams Mesmer and a (I don't remember what) Dervish. When all my allies died, my sig was already used and it was a 3 vs 1. I rushed to the mesmer (who was annoying me), hamstrung him and proceeded to dps him down until he died (he did not have any self-heals). Melandru's Resilience kept me up as well as my proper armor insignias and shield set (slashing) as I had many many conditions as well as hexes. At this point someone rezzed the Dervish so I hamstrung the derv, dps'ed him down, rupted his only self-heal and he died. There was only the ranger and Warrior left at this point. After a little brawl, I noticed my health was going down because of the lack of hexes and conditions (from the Mesmer and Dervish) which powered my survivability therefore I hamstrung the warrior, ran away and proceeded to use Troll Unguent Troll Unguent. I did a successful fakecast that baited Distracting Shot Distracting Shot and did another as the ranger wasted his Savage Shot Savage Shot and then, maniacally laughing behind my screen, I successfully used Troll Unguent. I went back to the Warrior and killed him, he had no self-heal whatsoever. The last living player was the Ranger with a lot of survivability. He quickly understood that using Melandru's Shot on me would not make him win the game as he couldn't do any damage because of Melandru's Resilience health regeneration (he also had Apply Poison Apply Poison). Therefore, he tried to win by doing simple Bow Damage and running away with Natural Stride Natural Stride (which was the only stance he had). After crippling him, I noticed he was running mending touch so as soon as Hamstring recharged I crippled him again but Savaged his mending touch this time. This caused him to have trouble. I eventually land a Sever Artery, Gash and he's doing pretty bad. He misses his Mel shot but eventually uses Mending Touch to clear the Bleeding and Deepwound (he rupted my apply). I cripple him again, right after his Mend touch and pack some damage. At this point he has about 30% health and I'm at 80-90% so I have a clear advantage. Upon mend touching his Crippled (I missed my Savage), I hit Sever Artery (Gash is ready) and he starts running away with Natural Stride. While he was hoping to increase his survivability by stopping to use Mending Touch again, he gave me the opportunity to land my Gash through his Natural Stride, which I did and he died. This is how I won a 4 versus 1 battle. My team was astonished and my blood was boiling as I gazed in Awe at the fact that I had won.

Attributes[edit]

Variants[edit]

I have never played any variant of it although I suppose Troll Unguent could be replaced by another skill. (interrupt for instance or a damage skill)

Equipment[edit]

  • Full Stalwart Insignias (+10 vs Physical Damage)
  • Rune of Clarity, Vitae Runes

  • Crippling Sword of Fortitude
  • Vampiric Sword of Shelter (Main Set)
  • Many Shields of Fortitude (mainly with +10 armor versus physical damage type, Blind Shield too)
  • Poisonous Spear of Fortitude + Shield (for spreading Poison)
  • Poisonous Longbow

Usage[edit]

  • Hamstring to cripple a foe, Sever Artery and Gash for damage
  • Keep Apply down to cover your conditions and spread degen
  • Spread poison with your spear once in a while
  • Use Savage Slash to interrupt hexes that could fuck your team or healing skills (Woh, Mending Touch, Guardian as a priority)
  • Enjoy attacking through Empathy, Insidious and covering the health loss by yourself with troll and Melandru's Resilience.
  • Keep Melandru up.
  • The name of the article Heroway comes from my PvP ranger Heroway Ftl.
