The Deep: How to enter into one single portal with 10 heroes[edit]
- See also: [[The Deep - Walkthrough]]
Overview[edit]
The Hero AI behavior was designed to return to their owner anytime the player unflags. They follow a pathfinder mechanism. This means that the AI will back-track exactly on the same footsteps of the player even if there is a shortcut, with the exception of them sighting the owner at radar range. That is why sometimes when we unflag they go "apparently" in the opposite direction. For example, if you finished a Vanquish and started to scraple for Cartographer title. Leave heroes at one edge of an explorable area, scraple half the place until you end up in the opposite side, suicide and unflag. You will witness heroes scrappling too ^_^. There is only one case in which heroes cannot back-track. When their path is obstructed. In that case they will instantly teleport even if you did not place any shadowstepping skill in their build.
Section One (far right)[edit]
Heroes cannot enter this room if three players started here, but until you reach Section Five. Which is not productive as they will get exhausted during wait time.
Section Two (right)[edit]
The perfect spot. To have 10 heroes max., you need at least another player with you. Do not use your first three hero slots to place monks, remember that the last 3 or 4 were not given individual flags. One of the players must flag his/her three first heroes to portal one so that portal two activates. Now flag all the remaining heroes near the wooden gate and the two players (or three) enter to room two. Once all two/three players are inside Section Two, unflag all heroes and they will teleport inside room two after a short delay. Yes! You read right, now you can start The Deep with 12 characters.
Section Three (left)[edit]
Heroes that were flagged to room three cannot "jump" to room one but can jump to room four if their owners entered there. This applies to groups with more than three players. Be careful as sometimes spawns are near the destination and may aggro your heroes and kill them. If you entered room four, move to the far edge so as to lose radar-sight and then unflag to save them. Even if fighting, they will be teleported to you. Except of course if they were killed.
Section Four (far left)[edit]
Inconvenient to send heroes here as owners enter Section three first. Portals let characters pass through only after activation but not if they were already standing there prior it opens. This would also mean players inside Section Three to flag heroes "guessing" while watching from the bridge.
Technically, if players are inside room three, its much more convenient to leave heroes flagged at the wooden gate and unflag them to join later the same section. Identical procedure to room two.
