A little help?
I figured I should give my characters a layout that looks sort of like the userpage...here's an image I made but can you please help me make it usable?
Thanks! -- WoB 03:10, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Oh just in case, characters are the small boxes and account goals are at the bottom. -- WoB 03:11, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

- I was going to, just a little tired ;). -- WoB 03:15, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- you'll have to make a table that fits exactly into the free spaces. then you put the image behind it using position:absolute. - Y0_ich_halt 12:01, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sort of like the way Galil did his userpage layout? -- WoB 17:03, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sort of, yes, except entirely opposite of what Y0 said. The table has to be beneat the image, and
position: absolute
has absolutely nothing to do with depth (that's z-order). I'm currently writing a report, but I'll have a look tomorrow, if I can remember it. :P — Galil 17:42, 5 October 2008 (UTC)- lol, thanks Galil. -- WoB 17:43, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

hehe, what do you think?
I made a new theme for wiki, shows my "dark side" ta~da!, mind giving me any times on how to make it better? -- WoB 03:57, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, you need a new wiki-logo. The text is almost unreadable. The headers ("User:Wings of Blood", "navigation", etc) have quite a dark color and doesn't go nice on the eyes either. Some contrast is ftw. Same goes for the red links. Also, I don't personally like "alien green" colors, but I suppose it's just a matter of taste. White borders look out of place, less contrast would be ftw for those. As it looks now, it seems as if the important parts to look at are the borders, not the text. — Galil 16:31, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I managed to fix most of the bugs, as for the logo it's the same but I changed the background to a grayish color and the main part is a soft black with 2px thick border to set the contrast from darkgray to light black, the recent changes seemed to be fixed for the most part, the one thing I want to add is the Night Fall Alchemist logo in the background. -- WoB 18:12, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Linux + GW!?
Ok, I'm installing everything(NVIDIA drivers, sound cards, ect ect)I'm installing Kubuntu 10 Beta but do you play GW with Linux or with Windows? -- WoB 16:52, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks; but Galil, do you play GW with Lunix and is it worth it? -- WoB 18:23, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- For me, personally, I found GW played under Wine ran as smoothly as under Windows. Just make sure you check which version of Wine you have and read the talk page. Bob's been giving a helpful running commentary of the quirks of various versions with GW and currently recommends 1.1.2. - Tanetris 22:16, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I just went through Ubuntu 10 and it's 2 hour update so I'm crossing my fingers -- WoB 00:44, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Quick answer, I don't. I tried back in the days when I had an ATI card, and ATI's drivers never worked well with neither wine nor cedega until very recently. I haven't tried getting it to work since then since I pretty much never play it. — Galil 19:28, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) yeh, let's move this to my talk, this is sort of spamming Galil's. -- Ψձㄅ 19:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I don't really mind though. About the window not showing anything, you wouldn't happen to have an ATI card, would you? If so post-processing effects are known to cause trouble. — Galil 20:10, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have a Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT Graphics Card, I don't really know if ATI is a company or a type of card program. -- Ψձㄅ 20:17, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- ATI is (was) a company that creates graphics cards. It's been bought by AMD now, but their cards still go under the name ATI. If you have an nVidia card it ought to work though. What does this command produce, if you type it into the terminal (with the pipe)?: glxinfo | grep direct

- I do have a AMD 64 Athlon X2 if that means anything -- Ψձㄅ 20:25, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- It shouldn't matter at all, and direct rendering should say "yes" so that's not it. Did you try turning off desktop effects? Also, exactly what error are you getting? — Galil 20:27, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- No, I didn't try that. GW loads but then the window disappears and all I hear is the music. -- Ψձㄅ 20:31, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Did you try modifying the registry keys, or appending arguments to wine as said in the Guild Wars page in the Wine AppDB? — Galil 20:38, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I need to learn how to do that. -- Ψձㄅ 20:43, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

- You know, judging from this picture, you're using Ubuntu and not Kubuntu. Ubuntu has GNOME, Kubuntu has KDE. — Galil 01:29, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, that could explain alot, right? I got confused with Kubuntu 8.4 and Ubuntu 8.10. X-X -- WoB 01:33, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't explain at all why it didn't work. It was just a FYI so you know your image is mis-named. ;) — Galil 01:51, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- lol, thanks. Crossover seems to make GW work actually better then it is currently (Idk how). Only problem with good programs are; they cost money; $40 to be exact....original cost was $15 before America's "Crisis". So now I'm forced to go to my mom and ask for $40....I'm only 16 so I can't have a major company credit card, sucks too =[. -- WoB 03:09, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
