"Thank you for nerfing disarm, if a monk or whatever had it, it became another blackout to adrenaline using classes." - unsigned

"Wow, I know some folks are eager to brownnose Izzy and ArenaNet and franticly rush to compliment every negative change, but they should really at least pretend to understand the skill they're talking about, or at least have looked at it once before they open their mouths. This poor guy apparently didn't even know that other classes could not use the Warrior class's primary attribute. lol" - J.Kougar

Nuff' said. 24.12.41.148 01:50, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but at the time the skill was still in Strength, and with a 0 in Strength it didn't disable anything.

I'd say "Nuff' said." in return, but that's far to crude to be anything I'd actually ever say someone. So instead I'll just go with 'Check your facts better next time'.
Skills change, if something doesn't add up check the history for changes... you'll usually find your answer there.  ;) ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 02:31, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Let me clarify that further... since I should not attempt to reply on things like this when I've already been into the schnapps for this evening.
I know the skill was once in Swordsmanship, most do, but the above quote was made in response to the nerf that changed the duration of the skills disabled, seen here
http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Disarm&diff=897618&oldid=890220
and not the nerf that moved it to Strength in the first place. That move was done on July 26th, prior to the release of GW:EN to the public, thus the original quite from the person regarding the nerf on the duration and could not have been in regards to people ever actually using the skill as the original poster seem to think they were, as it was then, as it is now, still an impossibility. ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 03:48, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

lol, that's pretty intense luck. And happy belated birthday btw J.Kougar. — Eloc 16:47, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Happy Birthday! srry i'm late, just got back from canada :)--Sum Mesmer GuyTalk to me NOW!! DO IT! contribs 15:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Many thanks for the belated birthday wishes, and sorry for the belated reply about them.  ;)
As for WoW... played it some, here and there... gotten it and cancled it and got it again on a couple occasions, but I just can't get into the game. Part of it's the play style (but not entirely because I really enjoy Rappelz) and a lot of it's the graphics. I didn't invest in a fancy graphics card and huge and spiffy monitor to look at the sort of graphics that WoW offers... I did for the kinda graphics that Vanguard and Rappelz offer.  ;) ...and still, I keep coming back to Guild Wars... wish I knew why. lol ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 11:10, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Is Rappelz any good? Is there much lag? -- NUKLEAR User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg IIV 11:22, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Really no issues with lag, no (sometimes town loading can be a little slow, but no worse than trying to get into American 1 of Doomloor Shrine). I get more lag on Guild Wars than I ever have on Rappelz. lol I play some on both Tanda and Lydian, and they both seem to be pretty good. Tanda can seem a little crowded at times and as such is a little more prone to a small crash/reboot (usually only takes a minute to two) and a thirty second to a minute rollback... but that's something they've worked hard to remedy in recent times, and not that big of a deal. Admittedly, I haven't really done much on Rappelz since they released Epic V on the 12th but from the looks of it they added some nice new stuff.
Rappelz is totally free, you never have to give them any money which is nice... but they do have luxury items available in the shops if you want to spend some real cash. I have bought some a time or two.  ;) I do think it's a really great game though, the graphics are awesome and yea, the controls feel a little bit like WoW, but overall it's a great game. ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 13:35, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
How similar? Really wow like, or does it has it's own niche? -- NUKLEAR User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg IIV 13:37, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
It's defiantly got it's own niche. It was just the controls that reminded me of WoW a little at first, but the systems are unique and the graphics are infinitely better.
Another interesting aspect is the PK (player kill) system. Aside from your standard battle areas and such, you can also turn on PK and then roam the lands attacking and killing other players. Doing so gets you a bit of wrath, which drops your stats and such and takes a bit to wear off, but it can be worth it. This isn't to say that this is an issue, sometimes you'll get a PKer hanging out in a low-level area trying to destroy new players for kicks, but usually once spotted someone will point them out in global chat and they get mobbed and destroyed either by a larger group of lower levels or a couple other high level players.  ;) If you don't have PK turned on, you can kill anyone who does without any drawbacks at all. So if you see a mob of players attacking someone with a red name then feel free to join in. lol ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 15:18, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Bcrat election[edit]

Hey, I noticed you voted against Aiiane, which is entirely understandable, although she was the only candidate I feel I can support (which isn't saying much). Anyway, my questions is, would you consider running next time, or is there someone you would consider nominating who would run? Or should this wiki just be considered completely wowol? -- Inspired to ____ 02:18, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Nah, I can't see myself running. I'm not willing to commit the amount of time necessary to the wiki to adequately fill the position. It's a great position for someone who's a student or unemployed and who has a lot of free time on their hands with which to dedicate to something like this wiki, but despite my seemingly abundant amount of free time I actually stay fairly busy with things that get prioritized a little bit above spending time on this wiki.  ;)
Not to mention that even if I were to run, a large majority of people would go against me based on my openness about my sexuality and lifestyle, regardless of my actual qualifications, and then there would be many others who would be unwilling to ignore a few minor indiscretions with another user that I had in the past (despite the fact that others currently running are well known trolls and spammers who have spent more than their fair share of time breaking NPA and attacking other users.
As for a possible nomination, well... I try to avoid the political side of things most of the time (particularly in places where it's horribly corrupt), but I will give a little more thought to that question.  :) ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 17:03, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
You know, when I saw in my watchlist that that edit was 1,337 characters long, I had my hopes up for a bit.
You of all people should know that no one here gives a flying fuck about your sexuality, and those that vote against you because of it are likely to have their votes striken. As for the other candidates, the only ones you could possibly think troll/spam/NPA are Cursed and Auron. Cursed's election is an obvious troll attempt, and Auron, despite what you might think, doesn't actually troll or make personal attacks - he's just a hardass that doesn't take crap from anyone. As a result, people tend to not like him.
The reason you would be opposed is not, like you say, because people would be "unwilling to ignore a few minor indiscretions with another user", it would be because you've already demonstrated your blatant disregard for the community as a whole by flaunting your bans with the reasoning of "I don't see why it's needed, therefore I can ignore it" - which, as I hope you recognize, isn't the point of the ban in the first place.
-- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 22:40, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Well I'd have to disagree a little on the sexuality playing a part, I think the simi-frequent vandalism to my pages by homophobes gives me warrant to think that perhaps a significant portion of the users here might use it as a deciding factor. It shouldn't be, agreed, but then again gay marriage shouldn't be outlawed in the majority of the country either.  ;)
As for ignoring bans, well... that all goes back to the old discussion of the rules and who is and isn't exempt, and who can and cannot get away with what... as well as how severely each individual will be punished depending on their standing in this community. I'd rather not get into the politics on here once again, I think I've more than brought to light what I think are corrupt aspects of the moderation of this wiki. Could I improve the system by being a part of it and holding all users equally responsible for their actions and not taking into regard their current position, standing, friends, or what group they associate with here on the wiki? Sure, but as I already explained above that's not something I'd be interested in doing at this present time, or in the foreseeable future.
Thanks for your feedback and input on the matter.  :) ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 13:09, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Prove to me that the vandalism (when was the last time anything like that happened, anyway?) is actually done by homophobes, or that the way bans and moderation are handled is actually a problem, and I'll start caring. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 13:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
August 20th and 26th were the last two such instances, and if you look at my page history on those vandalisms I think it's clear that they were done by homophobic persons... especially those done by a person with the username "Flamer of Faggots".  ;)
As for when the administration fails to treat people equally and not show favoritism, well... I think a lot of that was pointed out back in my arbitration, given you had bureaucrats and sysops breaking the rules at the time, but the fact that specific users (not mentioning any names) can get away with trolling, flaming, and constantly throwing profanities at other users and yet they don't end up banned for it... speaks for the current state of things far better than I ever could. Regardless, not really an issue I'm concerned with right now, as it's not one currently affecting me. Pragmatic? Yea, but I just don't have the time or energy to try and change the world (or the wiki) at this point in time.
As for getting you to "start caring" I'm not entirely sure why that should be a goal of mine or something I should be concerned with. You do what you do and usually it has very little to do with me, so I'm really not sure why it's important for you to agree with me, or why us agreeing on an issue is necessary or even desirable.  ;) ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 20:59, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Tab isn't homophobic, he's just an ass (although I can certainly see why you would think he is). Furthermore, the word "faggot" has evolved to have a significantly different meaning on the internet than it did originally. Just as a "nigger" is means something close to "a stupid, unskilled, persistent person degenerative to society", a "faggot" means more "a troll, or other deliberately unhelpful person" than "a homosexual person". The other by the IP wasn't homophobic in nature at all, so it doesn't relate to your "QQ I'm gay and people hate me for it" comments at all.
If you're not going to name names, you may as well not mention that at all - I can say the sky is red here in North Carolina, but without proof, you're not going to believe me. You've also failed to address the point (why this is actually a problem).
Getting me to care isn't going to happen, yeah. That was more a figure of speech to mean "it will give your arguments more weight than my claims that the sky is red". My apologies - I thought that would have been clear.
-- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 02:03, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Armond mate, can we please disengage from this argument? (omg ive been watching way too much sci-fi) Simply put, Kougar has already said he would not run for the bureaucrat role and given his reasons. Admittedly I don't agree with those reasons, as an openly Gay man myself I have found the community here to be amazingly accepting of people from every walk of life , but that is just my experience and my opinion and he may have experienced a different response to him. Either way his reasoning is his own and valid in so far that he believes it to be a factor, which is really all that matters in this instance. I'm just failing to see what you hope to achieve through this continued discussion matey? -- Salome User salome sig.png 02:13, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Kougar's a nice guy - it's mainly a way to vent, which, because he's a nice guy, I'm sure he doesn't mind. :) -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 02:16, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Eah, yesterday was my 3rd Anniversary and I got an official proposal and diamonds to go with it, so nothing is going to rile me or bring me down at this point.  :) ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 03:43, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Congrats...Also, thanks for answering my question inspite of all that followed. Also, please reconsider that we may not actually be backwards but may just think some things should have a little different meaning. Anyway, good luck with Mass. or where ever works. -- Inspired to ____ 04:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
