"The enhancements they've made to the PvP system is super awesome." Erm... what? You're really passing judgment on what ANet says they're going to do? -Auron 22:57, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- *shrugs* That better be aimed at DarkNecrid, because he wrote it, not me. — Jon Lupen 22:58, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Very Kubrickian of you. --Riddle 23:02, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- It's aimed at whoever, because it basically debunks the entire article. Imagine if I wrote an article talking about how Fable is going to blow everything out of the water based solely on what Peter Molyneux said about it pre-release - that's what this looks like. It's beyond silly to start thinking they know the first thing about how to make PvP any better, seeing as they've not done it once in 4 years in Guild Wars 1. They've never known who to listen to or where to gather insight from PvPers, so with what knowledge are they going to make GW2 PvP amazing?
- Assuming they're going to pull through on their promises is a stretch to say the least, and definitely not enough to garner whole-hearted support. I'm not bashing the PvP content until I see it, but given how poorly they've gathered feedback on GW1 PvP, I'm honestly not holding my breath. I don't see how anyone could go so far as to say it will be "super awesome." -Auron 23:10, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- What are you talking about Auron! PvP at the current stage is massively balanced and encourages tactical decisions, fun game play, and the use of synergizing skills! They have got everything right with GW PvP so GW2 is going to be a blast! Frosty 23:18, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hexes, Aura of the Lingrush, and 16v8 setups promote fun and interesting gameplay. ~Shard 03:20, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Auron, I get where you're coming from entirely because it's a very strong logical argument (Part of me agrees entirely). ArenaNet has said a lot of stuff and unfortunately they did change their mind for whatever reason, but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that they were a new company that had a vision and kind of "stumbled around" a bit the first time. Unfortunately not everyone can be Blizzard and make a memorable series (The Lost Vikings) as their first game, y'know? I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here one last time, and while I know this is foolish to some degree (understatement of the year), I think there's a lot of great talented people at ArenaNet who can make a really great game with the knowledge of what worked and what didn't. I try to ignore the current situation on GW1 because there's too few full time staff on it to really make it glorious again (not enough money to make it happen either), too few people to fix their previous missteps. But they have a blank slate now that they can look at Guild Wars as a whole, look at what both sides want, and do something with it. I'm just trying to say that so far the only similarities to WoW is having multiple races and a higher level cap, and a persistent world and that just doesn't make you a World of Warcraft clone, it's just basic features of an MMORPG which GW2 is. I'm not saying GW2 is going to be perfect or anything, in the original version of this I even said "but definitely wait for the open beta to try it out to make sure it's good" or something akin to that, I'm just saying that it isn't going to be "hey let's copy everything in World of Warcraft!" and there's definitely some original ideas they have planned going into this, and knowing ArenaNet they're probably going to add more. Whether it's good remains to be seen, but the ideas behind what they are planning to do sounds awesome. DarkNecrid 03:06, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well yeah I agree with most of your argument, I had to nitpick to get a firm thing to bash :p
- I really do hope that ANet can pull through. They put out vanilla GW1 as a team effort and it was an amazing game, so maybe all this team effort and not rushing things will produce another great product. I'm just not sure I want to invest time/effort into it when GW2:factions will bring back the assassin and rit equivalents :/ -Auron 05:01, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- They'll add and balance all of the expansion professions at the outset, long before they're actually released. Assassins and Rits will be created at Prophs; we just won't see them until Factions is out for sale. Raine - talk 17:42, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- 2/10. It is ANet we're talking about, after all. -Auron 17:54, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Please stop killing my dreams. Raine - talk 18:03, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think they'll add new classes, that really hurt Guild Wars a lot and I'm pretty sure they know that (Izzy does at least...). I'll definitely give beta a shot and if that is good, I'll buy it for sure. 50$ for thousands of hours of gameplay is more than worth it imo. DarkNecrid 21:59, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- More than a year later it turns out I have been right so far, amazing! DarkNecrid 02:42, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
