Democracy is bad; logic is good. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 21:47, 5 Jan 2011 (UTC)

Democracy is ok when dealing with things that aren't as unambiguous as game balance. Morphy 18:37, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
In a true democracy, you'd have to vote before stating that it should never outdo logic. 145.94.74.23 20:26, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Logic before democracy is a nice ideal but you really should look outside the world of games a bit and see that democracy surpasses even the most reasonable of logic. American politics and religion are a great exsample of it. Damysticreaper 18:41, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Indeed, humans are not creatures of logic. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 3:02, 7 Feb 2011 (UTC)
Regrettably, democracy is valued high in western civilization. Everyone was the right to practice their religion, start a political party, criticize the aforementioned people, and criticize the criticism, even if they have no idea what they are talking about.
However, this page is not about about America, but about dumb ideas for this game, and like the Anti-Shard said, balancing a game is unambiguous, and therefore not a democratic but a logical process. Koda User Koda Kumi Horns1.GIF 23:49, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
You are Naive. Democracy will always over-rule logic, especially when it comes to a business. People want something, a business provides something. In the case of an MMO, people will stop consuming if the business stops giving them what they want. --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 01:38, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
And things will continue to suck on a global and local scale as long as profits are more important than people. Back when people made good games because they enjoyed making good games, there were good games! Now that people make games to be as profitable as possible, a lot of the "good" has been sucked out of them. The same could be said about any industry. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 1:57, 9 Feb 2011 (UTC)
Thats probably true, but still. --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 01:59, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
Something that's crucial to understand is that most businesses cater to the norm in order to maximize profits. You then have to understand that "the norm" is not brilliant or creative. I have to constantly remind myself of that. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:01, 9 Feb 2011 (UTC)
Where did I say logic triumphs over democracy in any industry? It does not. For the free market, only the most profitable option counts, and that is usually the option that gets you the most customers. Make as many people happy and listen to the biggest crowd, that is how the free market works.
However, when dealing with things like dealing with balance problems of a game, or adjusting a policy on this wiki to make it less or more restrictive, democracy has no place at all. The opinion of the ignorant is detrimental to achieving a good result, and it will only result in another group of people being displeased with the situation. Logical thinking will get you far further than just listening to the biggest screamers and blindly adjusting things to their needs. Koda User Koda Kumi Horns1.GIF 22:29, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
