I'm not very familiar with wikicode but I'm curious to know; is it possible to more dynamic type layouts with mouseover triggers and the like?
- It depends what you mean really, are you talking about having JavaScript so that parts of the page change when you roll the mouse over? If so, these things are possible, but not by editing the wikicode. LordBiro 10:45, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- Yeah something like that. So you could embed javascript into the page and do it that way? What about having headers over a content frame that changed when you ran the mouseover? Lojiin 10:53, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- It's possible to do, but I don't see the benefit :) hehe LordBiro 10:54, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- Well, take for example the "Map" link on the current main page. What if on mouseover it opened like a dropstyle section that had a short bullet list. In this case it could be by continent. So you'd run your mouse over "Map" and it would pop a list of : Tyria, Cantha, Elona. Where each would be a link, keeping the original map link as well. Lojiin 10:56, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- The main page at present is not ideal, but why not just have:
- I'm not a huge fan of JavaScript for aesthetic purposes. There are some instances when a popup would make sense. One such instance might be a popup when you mouse over a skill name, showing the skill icon and some stats. But even this would have to be done tastefully and is not something we should be focussing on just yet ;) LordBiro 11:02, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- Heh, mostly I'm just trying to think of ways to improve the overall look and feel of the wiki. The thing with keeping the list on the main page is that it gets elongated. Repeated over multiple sections and the page can easily run off the screen. Whereas if it loaded on mouseover it shows up when desired but not otherwise, ideally without increasing the page load time significantly. Lojiin 11:10, 9 February 2007 (PST)
A Quick Access Links popup would be useful. It would actually make them.. Quick! :D -- Ifer 08:59, 10 February 2007 (PST)
