Confessions of horrible people[edit]

People may have noticed that our interests in this wiki have waned. We have found less and less time to come here and contribute constructively, or otherwise. The first person plural is intentional. Misery was a group project. The goals were myriad and complicated, a large part of it involved seeing simply what we could get away with. At Misery's peak, there were 7 people editing on this account. This is why our goals were often so lofty and complicated, with multiple editors this was practical.

If you have ever noticed Misery acting inconsistently, this is why. Actions were not planned, each person basically browsed the recent contributions, then acted accordingly. Some people acted mostly constructively, while others tended towards trolling and destructive behaviour. The gender confusion actually arose from an argument, we were a mixed group and it came across in our editing. The male component of the group was larger and more obnoxious and as such, won out in the end. It also helped that the "real" Misery is a guy. It didn't make sense to have multiple ventrilo voices, the in game account was one person. He has since stopped playing Guild Wars.

I am now the only one left. I consulted with a couple of the others that I have kept in touch with, but they really didn't care any more. I have changed the password, now only I know it. I have also moved on from Guild Wars and am generally unimpressed with the direction the wiki community has taken. A huge amount of time and effort is spent on the wiki trolling itself, creating massive issues out of nothing. This is actually the prime reason most of us gave up and moved on, there was no point in trolling this wiki, it trolls itself. What is the point in concocting and enacting zany schemes to create disruption when perfectly reasonable actions from active editors result in massive shitstorms that are smeared all over multiple talk pages, usually involving far more people than actually have anything to do with the matter at hand?

Perhaps that was actually our crowning achievement. We created an environment that trolled itself without our intervention. We were too successful and obsoleted ourselves.

I believe I am done, no one else has access, so don't expect this account to be active from now on. Best of luck wiki. Misery 23:26, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Now that explains why I liked you most of the time. Bye! WhyUser talk:Why 23:47, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Sysop rights cleanup[edit]

Hello, I appreciate you've been inactive for a fair while, but on the odd chance you've still got your talk page watchlisted/notifications enabled, I thought out of courtesy I would leave a message (admittedly I'm going to copy-paste the same message for all affected users). (1) We're going through a bit of a review of which inactive users have sysop rights (including reconfirmation), and (2) here's a link to yours: Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for adminship/Misery. -Chieftain Alex 19:02, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
