Hi[edit]
Prologue: Airports and Insomnia.[edit]
Shouldn't you be on a plane? Prose 19:57, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Chapter One: Passing Judgment.[edit]
- Vacations... I accuse you of doing them wrong. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 07:51, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Your error is in the assumption that I sleep normal hours. Raine - talk 08:46, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I would assume that you do sleep, though...or am I, too, mistaken about a great many things? Vili 08:49, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- My accusations are based on the fact that either you had a very short holiday (above was you leaving, now you are back), or you decided to spend vacation time on GWW. I would consider either "doing it wrong". --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 09:00, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- The first was me leaving from my vacation spot to get back to school; it normally takes one day, but my second flight got delayed; I arrived today after a two-day trip. And I did spend some time on GWW (*gasp*); this largely didn't interfere with my plans because I wikied (past tense of "wiki:v", not sure how you would spell that) primarily during the time that I'd have been sleeping otherwise and then sleeping late to compensate. Raine - talk 09:07, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Pfft. For me, any day that I don't wake up on the keyboard is a vacation day! (...because in those cases I wake up under the table.) Vili 09:11, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Precisely, I don't care that you are still in school you should have been too drunk to wiki at night. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 09:21, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I do not condone underage drinking, and I expect you to quote me as saying that if ever asked. Life's more fun sober, IMO. Raine - talk 10:05, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Who's underage here? o_O Wiki's more fun not-quite-sober, imo Vili 10:07, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm drunk right now, it makes work more bearable. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 10:11, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm constantly drunk on power. It makes work...no, wait... that is my work. What a great job. Vili 10:13, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- How's the pay on that? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 10:19, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not 21 yet, working on it. Being sober and finding better work makes work more bearable, too. Being not-quite-sober on wiki (and with my personality?) could lead to some... unpleasantness. And if you want the pay on that, ask Izzy. Raine - talk 10:31, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Beer can be legally purchased at 16 in Germany. Where I grew up it was 18 so people have to purchase it illegally at 16. Of course all this is moot because I am old. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 10:36, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, that's the slow way to do it...much faster to make the age limit come to you, instead. Or at least that's how I see it. Anyway, I suppose my pay consists of a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, which is
worth more than goldshit wages for long hours. :D I wish it was as fun as Izzy's work must be, but unfortunately I can't actually change things like he does. Though, I guess with my personality, that is a good thing for all concerned. Vili 10:38, 8 January 2009 (UTC)- As long as this conversation doesn't get any reset indents, I'll continue to love it. Also, unrelatedly, I'm going to bed. Raine - talk 10:44, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well I always find RIs jarring, so when there are too many colons we will just wave the conversation backwards using reverse indentation. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 10:47, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

- There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to sleep at 10 AM, kthx! And omgwtf, that comment was signed? I think someone else could use some sleep, too. ;)
- Also, your grammar and diction are way too good (you used "stupor" in a sentence, c'mon); you clearly aren't drunk enough to "pass out". Raine - talk 23:39, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

As punishment for your tardiness earlier I have decided to go to bed right now at the precise moment that you have decided to rise from your slumber. I bid you adieu for approximately 8 hours. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- 10AM ? That is way too late. You ought to go to bed when the sun rises, so you can be up and ready when the sound of evil laugher falls around the world tonight.
- Being drunk makes some people better at speeling and grammart, kthx. It's not like you would know, anyway. :P Vili 23:58, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Daytime is so meh. I'd stop the world from rotating if I could. Yes, I'm fully aware of the consequences of that action.
- Going to bed at midnight is so weak, Misery. Oh, so disgustingly weak... And 8 hours just isn't enough. Strong 13-hour sleep is strong.
And who says I've never been drunk? People change.I just realized that there are certain conversations that just aren't appropriate on wiki. Not many, but there are some.- I don't find your sig objectionable at all; I mean, as far as anyone knows, you just never sign your comments and some good Samaritan kindly adds the unsigned template on your behalf. At least, until anyone checks RC... but still. Does it make a difference?
- Having a red sig automatically makes you a better person. Raine - talk 00:09, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

- We live in a world where the people I play games with no longer know what it is to collect eight chaos emeralds with sweat mixed with blood and then lose all your rings with no chance of recovery when you accidentally get shocked by one of those goddamn shocky things, then fall off the edge of the world and lose everything. Boss levels didn't even have rings. Also, I am slightly offended at the suggestion this conversation might be pointless. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- Pfft. For me, any day that I don't wake up on the keyboard is a vacation day! (...because in those cases I wake up under the table.) Vili 09:11, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- This is a far more
conscructiveuseful activity than...I dunno...adding GW suggestions or whatnot. Not to mention more aesthetically pleasing. And I daresay there is a greater chance Izzy will read this, too. So the pleasure is all mine, really. Vili 11:16, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- I find the suggestions section amazing. I can't believe people expect to be taken seriously with what they type there. "Centaurs are really cool, I want to be a centaur in GW2. This would make it a very unique MMORPG because there are no MMORPGs on the market where you can be a centaur." As much as we all like centaurs, I'm not sure that suggestion is viable. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).

- Vacations... I accuse you of doing them wrong. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk). 07:51, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't actually think many of the problems with this game have anything to do with Izzy. Assuming he were intelligent enough and brave enough to fix this game and that it is even possible to fix it, I don't think he would be allowed to. From the way Regina talked recently it sounds like he is barely the balancer for GW any more. He's a good scapegoat though. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- He did (sort of) admit that his job has become more PR than "skill balancer". Which is kind of disgusting. The thing is... if he's supposed to be the skill balancer, and he's not balancing skills... then who is? =o Raine - talk 13:42, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- I can't tell you that, but I can tell you that most of the blame should probably be levelled at management. Faceless hidden people who not only emasculate their staff making them powerless to fix the problems with the game, they then throw them out into the public arena to bear the brunt of criticism from people who don't understand how life actually works. Pretty sure Izzy is practically speaking a working stiff like me. When things go wrong at work, guess what? it's not my supervisor that gets the blame. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- What the hell is aNet's phone number? Not the GW customer service line, the office number? The "Hello, would you be so kind as to parch me through to Isaiah Cartwright?" number? Alternatively, if anyone has his boss's cell, that'd be wonderful. Raine - talk 14:05, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Just yell at me, I have considerably thicker skin than any of the Arenanet staff seem to. Also, looks like this conversation is over, bye. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).

- Am I correct that you have made it to like noon without going to sleep? Going to have to retract any previous comments about weakness on your part. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- 3 pm. I'll get to sleep... eventually. :D Raine - talk 15:33, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- I have become weak in my old age. Latest I have done that I can remember was 6am and that was months ago. Alcohol may or may not have been involved on that occasion. A long walk home was definately involved. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- OH MY GOD IT'S FRIDAY. On a sadder note, you must have school starting Monday and this won't happen again. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- Who says it won't? I've got pretty nasty insomnia. Raine - talk 15:45, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, insomnia's a bitch. I just tend to lie in bed for hours staring at the ceiling instead of sitting on my computer though. Occasionally I can kill it by doing something quickly. I keep a DS next to my bed as well as a book. Problem is to get to sleep I have to exhaust my mind, not stimulate it. I should keep some work next to my bed. I haven't had it half as bad since I moved countries. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- I usually sleep 0-4 hours a night for most of the week, then sleep away a day or so. It works out. Raine - talk 16:11, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- My tactic is to grab 5-6 hours a day, then sleep for a weekend. Sucks in winter when you wake up and the sun has already set D: --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- Ew. Daylight. Raine - talk 16:27, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's daylight and you are awake now. It's not daylight here, it's been dark for about an hour. I'll probably go home soonish. I'm working far too hard to go home quite yet. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- So where d'you "work"? They seem very... easygoing. Raine - talk 16:48, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Scientific research institute. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- And you're "working" on the cure for cancer, no doubt? Raine - talk 18:43, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm hardly that noble. Most of my research is in the field of catalysis and surface science. I'm a chemical physicist. Fundamental research so no one can prove me wrong. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- Impressive. I mean, being a chelical physicist and all. What sort of fundamental research? Raine - talk 19:22, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Don't really want to get too specific on a wiki, but I'm working on developing some new techniques for characterising surfaces. Also, how do you prove me wrong when you can't see atoms? Everyone is just guessing tbh. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- Oh, that's what you meant by "fundamental". WTB physicist's dictionary. =x
- I could, I'd assume, prove you wrong by providing counterexamples to your claims. Not that I have any way to find those, seeing as I know naught about advanced physics. Raine - talk 19:31, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- The key to becoming a world leading expert is to find a field so obscure no one cares enough to challenge you. I have taken this philosophy to heart. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- You're so awesome. I'd stamp you for approval like a ripe fruit or whatnot, had I both you and a stamp of approval. Raine - talk 19:36, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Please be careful inflating my ego, I've crammed a lot of air into it already and I wouldn't like it to pop. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- Earned admiration is earned. Raine - talk 19:54, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well I'm eating grapes at the moment, so I have to say I'm well satisfied. Question: Was the gap between my stated profession and your response when you got some sleep, or have you still not? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- No, I didn't sleep then, but I did sleep between my previous post and now. I caved. :'C Raine - talk 00:30, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

- Ye, I saw that. I see you've chosen the path of most drama. I don't actually have that many pages watchlisted. Watchlists are vile things, they cause you to read a whole lot of stuff that you actually don't care about. When you only care about one of 15 threads on a page I just find it frustrating. Regina's page is not one I have watched. This page is highly important and is watched. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).

Normally I would not bother reading such pages as Regina's, but as you can see a topic of interest came up. I also feel compelled to read everything on my watchlist, and you may be correct that removing non-essential articles from it may be a smart idea. This page is highly important and is watched by choice, though. Vili 23:28, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I unticked that watch everything I edit page because it turns out I make a lot of minor edits on pages I will never ever care about again. I also occasionally do a great purge. My PvX watchlist used to be ~500 pages at all times, gah. There are some people I care about who's talk pages I don't watch because they get a lot of irrelevant crap that I don't care about on it. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- 500? That's kind of low. I know some people who have over 9,000 items on their watchlists...and they were all added manually. (On the other hand, I don't think they ever check through the entire list.) Vili 23:37, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I should really consider archiving this page sometime. Raine - talk 23:40, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

- I've had a mostly good day, so I'm just playing out the bonus round, I'll go to bed, don't worry. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- Do either of you play FA? I haven't, myself, and I just read the thread about how lol imba it is. Can either of you confirm? Before I tell people to stop being bad and play the damn game, kthx, I want to know that it really is as grieving as everyone says it is. Raine - talk 08:12, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Get some sleep; I won't hold it against you. Raine - talk 00:46, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't really play competitive missions, but I've heard since the changes it's almost impossible for Luxons to win, but it doesn't really matter because you get so much faction for losing that the entire Luxon team is leeching anyway. I know of at least one person who is running three accounts sitting in there leeching all day. New version of HFFF ftw. I hear Anet even helped him out by giving him a bigger faction cap.
- Poor timing, I intend to sleep within the forseeable future. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- I'm gonna break this up. Having to scroll halfway up a page to click the [edit] button FTL.
- I think making an exact duplicate of FA (Kaanai/Ancestral style) with Lux favor would be sweet. Gives Kurz masochists something to do, IMO. Alternatively, I could redesign the whole thing and then watch the redesign not be implemented. Which I have no problem with; I'm a designer at heart, I don't mind it.
- What's your IGN? Raine - talk 08:27, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- No, I didn't sleep then, but I did sleep between my previous post and now. I caved. :'C Raine - talk 00:30, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- Just use difs to read what people say, then hit the contents link and then the edit link. It's easy. Oh and I'm abusing my sysop rights on PvX so I can show you my IGN. Tell me when you've read it and I'll delete it. I don't even know why I'm bothering to be sneaky. Pretty sure it's not that hard to find if people want it. Maybe I'm scared of being stalked by Oni.
- Well I'm eating grapes at the moment, so I have to say I'm well satisfied. Question: Was the gap between my stated profession and your response when you got some sleep, or have you still not? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).

- The key to becoming a world leading expert is to find a field so obscure no one cares enough to challenge you. I have taken this philosophy to heart. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- And this is... when?
- Unrelatedly, why are you in game "when Misery is sleeping"? Raine - talk 10:16, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Damnit, I knew there was a reason people were using the standard nomenclature. I guess we may have to stick with the old definitions. I think you have a good idea of when I am sleeping. Now is Misery is working o'clock. That lasts until about 7 hours from now. Then is Misery is not working or sleeping o'clock until Misery passes out o'clock which is followed by Misery is sleeping o'clock.
- Don't really want to get too specific on a wiki, but I'm working on developing some new techniques for characterising surfaces. Also, how do you prove me wrong when you can't see atoms? Everyone is just guessing tbh. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).

- Oh, I'm GMT+1 at the moment, so Misery is sleeping o'clock is around 00:30-06:30 GMT I guess. It varies.
- I'm hardly that noble. Most of my research is in the field of catalysis and surface science. I'm a chemical physicist. Fundamental research so no one can prove me wrong. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).

- My tactic is to grab 5-6 hours a day, then sleep for a weekend. Sucks in winter when you wake up and the sun has already set D: --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Misery (talk).
- I usually sleep 0-4 hours a night for most of the week, then sleep away a day or so. It works out. Raine - talk 16:11, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Chapter Two: How Misery Went to a Work Farewell Function that Turned Out to Not Just Be Coffee and Cake but a Full-Blown Catered Party with a Sit- Down Meal that Lasted Until 11pm.[edit]
- Chapter 2: How Misery went to a work farewell function that turned out to not just be coffee and cake but a full blown catered party with a sit down meal that lasted until 11pm. But seriously, you did archive already. I don't see what the problem is here.
- Was the food good? Raine - talk 23:25, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- It was fairly excellent. My piss poor planning also meant that there was no food in my fridge for breakfast (I had intended to go to the supermarket tonight) so I managed to scrounge enough leftovers to make a pretty good breakfast tomorrow morning.
- Lucky you, then. ^^
- I play war so badly. It took me like eight seconds to kill this monk, WTF is that? I should be able to do it in half that. =( Raine - talk 23:37, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Look at where that put an edit tag! I love you so very manys right now. Here is a quote about Bull's Strike: "Three seconds is simply a ludicrously large amount of time to kill someone". I'm paraphrasing because I can't find it or remember it properly.
- I found out what I was doing wrong. I'm terrible with dchop, but Agonizing... Agonizing is win. Kills stuff dead. And I'm getting better with Shock, too. I used to use Shock on my Derv, but it's different with a war. I'd consider myself bad still, but not baed. I'll try to be decent by the end of the night. Raine - talk 00:29, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Personally I prefer Dchop. Agonizing is all about the big spike while Dchop is about Dchopping WoH and laughing as their whole team collapses.
- Not sure why you would ever pass up on a "free dshot" tbh. Also: if you can play shock axe, I'm not anywhere near your league of skill. Vili 02:03, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
