Main page much?[edit]
This is great having all of them in a single page for comparison. Why not mainpage it? Also, has anyone figured out the EXACT distance/radius of Soul Reaping? The 2.5-3.0 doesnt help, which forces me to assume that its approximate to Spirit's radius as a form of measurement (similar to how we use Danger Zone is used to approximate Earshot & Projectile [Short]). --Falconeye 03:46, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- Short answer: I believe that until the data improves from being unconfirmed-but-plausible, it should remain in a user page or sandbox.
- Long answer: I don't think it's ready to mainpage for several reasons: (1) I posted this on a talk page first and no one seemed that interested. (2) I'm not completely convinced that all the non-weapon ranges are correct (there are a couple of contradictions in our articles). (3) I'm not convinced that the range:aoe comparisons are completely correct, either. (4) I'd like to be able to set it up so that there is an easily replicable example of each, without requiring multiple images...so people can see the visual distance and compare it themselves to the aggro range.
- Slightly separate issue is that I think the Range and AoE articles need to be updated so that they are presented in a parallel fashion, if not combined into a single article. Range is the distance from caster/wielder to target while AoE measures from center of effect to its edge; however, they are both just different distance measurements. I think it would be easier to understand both if they were presented together. But: the consensus seems to be that they are completely distinct ideas. I don't think it's possible to change that belief without presenting a solid draft version; this table is meant to be part of that. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:44, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- Do I have permission to update this with Projectile (Extreme) for "Urgoz and friends", in addition to other related tidbids gleaned back when I tried my hand at Skill infobox's and Category:Skills? On that note: Should I continue expanding whats already in existence (i.e havent been deleted), or remain patient? ^_^ --Falconeye 08:10, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- Do you think a consensus has been established to overhaul how we present distances? I don't think anything has changed since May (at least, no one new has opined and I haven't re-raised the topic).
- As far as this article goes, I'd prefer that you tell me what you mean by extreme projectile distance (and why you chose that term) and identify the specific tidbits. Partly, this article is my attempt to organize my thoughts on these topics for my own edification... and that sometimes (maybe often) leads to updates to updates to the mainspace. It seems to me that there's a lot of work that needs to be done first, not the least of which is spot checking skills to make sure that they operate at the distance identified in the description (and whether those distances are actually identical, since there seems to be some evidence that they might not be). I'd also like to see images that clearly illustrate absolute and relative distances.
- In short, this page really isn't in state where it can handle being edited by multiple ppls. It's probably 5-10 steps removed from being even a rough draft. When it is ready, I'll slap the {{User:TEF/Templates/Brainfart}} template on it. Thanks. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:28, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
