War in Kryta/Checkpoint dialogue

Peacekeeper checkpoints consist of a Peacekeeper Goon and several Peacekeeper Enforcers blocking the road for the party. As the party leader approaches, a dialogue plays and then the Peacekeepers turn hostile.

Dialogue[edit]

Peacekeeper Goon: And just where do you think you're going?
[Party Leader]: (one of the following)
  • I am merely passing through, good sir.
  • I have business in Beetletun.
  • To Lion's Arch.
  • To Loamhurst.
  • To Hakewood!
  • Nebo Terrace.
  • The Ascalon Settlement.

Variant A[edit]

Peacekeeper Goon: Show me your Travel Permit.
[Party Leader]: Permit? I have no permit.
Peacekeeper Goon: No permit, eh? Well, that is going to be a problem, but lucky for you, we just so happen to have a special deal going on. One time only, and it ends today.
[Party Leader]: A deal? What kind of deal?
Peacekeeper Goon: Well, the deal is, you either give us your gold, or we kill you.
[Party Leader]: My gold is my own, you scoundrel!
Peacekeeper Goon: So be it.

Variant B[edit]

Peacekeeper Goon: Not without a permit, you don't.
[Party Leader]: Permit? I have no permit.
Peacekeeper Goon: Then you are hereby under arrest for traveling without a Travel Permit. Lay down your weapons and come with us peacefully.
[Party Leader]: That is preposterous! Never before have I needed a permit to travel freely throughout Kryta. Now stand aside and let me through!
Peacekeeper Goon: Yeah, well, things change, don't they? And now you need a permit to travel freely, which you don't have. So lay down your weapons or my men will take them by force.
[Party Leader]: You can have my weapons when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.
Peacekeeper Goon: Good enough for me.

Trivia[edit]

  • The "from my cold, dead hands" line is an almost verbatim quote of a popular NRA slogan.
