Issue
The overhaul of Pious Assault and the ability of Expertise to mitigate energy issues has helped spawn degenerate R/D zerg builds in HA. A large part of the problem is that Escape and their naturally-high elemental resistance makes them very tricky to take down, and Escape as a speed boost makes them very difficult to kite.
Suggestion
End the stance on a successful attack hit.

when chained with lighting reflexes ranger can keep 75% blocking up for long periods of time

Suggestion
Rather than ending on a hit, which would make lots of R/Ds hate you, make it so that you can only block attacks while not attacking. This way it could still be used to run, hit someone and carry on running but it would mean that while actually fighting foes oyu would get no benefit from it. This would be a good balance between it being overpowered as it is and being nerfed too much (it's an elite and so deserves a little more than a standard running skill).

How to nerf sway without throwing Escape in the garbage bin

Suggestion
Add "You cannot critical hit with melee attacks." Since scythes are dependent on critical hits and Escape helps hit fleeing foes, this severely nerfs a "sway" build's damage output. You can still critical with a bow or spear, but bow and spear criticals aren't anywhere near damaging enough to be a problem.

This skill is usually used for entering in middle of the battle, not for "escape". If melee attacks are nerfed i'd increase duration and recharge.
Suggestion
It ends if you hit with a melee weapon, but increase duration to 2...13...16 and recharge to 20.
If it is considered OP because it blocks 75% of attacks it could be scaled to 25...65...75%

Skill is too powerfull when used in combat.

Elite Stance. For 1...8...10 seconds, you move 33% faster and have a 50% chance to block attacks while attacking, otherwise you have a 75% chance to block attacks.

Make it end when the user attacks something. It's called Escape, not CHARGE!.
Yeah, but "Charge!" is used to escape lol. A-net mixed up their names.

Don't turn Escape into to Natural Stride

Most of you are proposing that Escape be adjusted to something that resembles Natural Stride. Bad idea. In fact, I think most of the recent "let's make an elite version of ___ skill" revamping by ANET has been terrible. Escape is supposed to be a great, solid skill - and there haven't been any complaints about it until Dervish skills and Scythes came along. Part of what balances Escape in the Meta is that the skill is in the expertise line, making it only (realistically) usable by Ranger primaries - so it's not as though this is an elite skill that is being abused or thoroughly used by several classes. Leave it alone and defend around it. Too many people get their asses kicked in RA and then come here to complain about skills. Get over it and move on please. Ninjatek 14:05, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

If something is overpowered, it needs to be fixed. What does "escape" mean, honestly? Stand in someone's face, hitting them with a weapon whilst invincible? No, escape means "run away." It should end on attack, end of story. That would keep it viable for rangers in both PvP and PvE by not nerfing the numbers, but it would prevent abuse from players using the skill to become invincible melee attackers. -Auron 06:27, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Solution
You move 33% faster and have a 75% chance to block attacks while moving. Ends when you hit with a melee attack.
Why
To prevent thumper/sway abuse, but still give bow rangers the ability to cripple persuants while fleeing.


Fix Escape

And Lightning reflexes. Tired of seeing R/D and R/A with lolmax expertise and lolmax weapon mastery with permanent lolblock + IAS/IMS. Every about 3rd player is playing R/A in "lowlevel" PvP now. It's no fun any more. Escape and LR give too much offense (unkitability/IAS) and defense (blocking) at the same time, allowing for the rest of the skillbar to be attack skills-only.
Fix is easy:

  • This stance ends if you successfully hit with an attack.
  • To compensate increase the duration by 1-2 secs.
  • Then, this skill will rightfully bear the name ESCAPE (it's NOT Lightning Charge!!) and annoying Swayers go to hell.

I need not argue why R/A is lolOP compared to MB eles even. And the annoyance factor is untopped.
