No character slot?

I was so hoping for another character slot like in the Nightfall prerelease. :( But, as the saying goes - "You can't always get what you want". - Jarn 17:19, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Im looking forward to a pre order sword. Now all my Koss can have a freebie max shield and sword. HOWEVER, can anyone clarify for me, will the PRE ORDER also be available from the ONLINE STORE? I hope so as I was going to buy GWEN online for the bonus pack. This sounds to me like if I want EVERYTHING I need to buy GWEN twice, and thats asking ALOT - (Shaydow 21:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC))
An additional character slot wouldn't make sense as the expansion is designed for existing max level characters and not for new creations. HanokOdbrook 21:42, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the Prerelease Bonus Pack is available now in the Guild Wars In-Game Store. And it's on some retailer shelves now, as well. Thanks for asking. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:36, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

July Early Access?

According to Gamestop/EB Games on line stores, there is some sort of early access for July 24-26 in addition to the August Beta Event. Can this be confirmed by Anet or is it a listing error on the Retailer's part. If there is some access this month, will the on-line store have the pre-order available in time and include this access as a part of buying it? HanokOdbrook 21:42, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Whilst not confirmed officially, the date I heard was August 24-26. This would make more sense that the dates you specified since they fall on a weekend. - Dorsk 21:52, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
I saw that earlier today. There is nothing scheduled for July 24-26; it is indeed an error. Thanks for pointing it out! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:13, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Ending Date? And Other Assorted Stuff

Stupid question maybe but when does this offer stop being available? Also, will there be extras in the retail version? Such as manuscripts, lore stuff, map, or whatnot? Thanks Barinthus 04:38, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

The Prerelease Bonus Pack has no different in the two forms. What is listed on this page is what is in either the retail and on-line version. The box will contain a DVD that gives the access keys; the in-game store purchase will automatically add the keys (Sneak Peek access and the three items) to your account.
The ending date for the availability of the box through retailers is "when they run out." Sometimes they are available after release, sometimes not. The availability via the in-game store will continue, I'm sure, through the August 31st release. We will not set a cap on how many can be acquired, so you are sure to be able to get the Preorder Bonus Pack access key through the store. I will ask if we will continue to offer the preorder through October 31st, in case people want to buy the preorder as part of the qualifying purchases for the Bonus Mission Pack. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:25, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you Gaile, I must have missed were it was mentioned this will also be available in the online store. Thats fantastic! Im not sure why so many people dont like the idea, other then the CE stuff, I love the idea of getting everything through the store. Makes my life easier and helps line ANET pockets alittle bit more. Thanks again. - (Shaydow 13:27, 13 July 2007 (UTC))
Many thanks for taking your time to respond to my questions. That was the line of my thinking - if there's nothing extra in the retail version, I as well will use it toward the monetary amount needed to receive the bonus pack free. Again, thanks and you're wonderful :) Barinthus 21:18, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
If you buy the pre release bonus pack through the online store, does that count towards the $29 you need to receive the bonus mission pack? Secondly, if you buy the pre-release through the online store, can you still buy the expansion from a store - will that be compatible? --Jingomania
Yes, the prerelease bonus pack could be part of the $29 credit. Yes, you would be able subsequently to purchase the game from a retail store, but you would not be credited for the cost of the PBP that you purchased in the in-game store at a retailer, but only through the in-game store itself. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 06:50, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Beta?

Just got my pre order key and this was in the email:

"Thank you for your recent order of Guild Wars: Eye of the North from GameStop.com/EBgames.com. As part of your pre-order, you receive Beta access, three exclusive in-game items, Guild Wars early entry from August 24-26, "preferred friend" access and trial access to all 3 Guild Wars games. Your unique access code can be found below."

What I was wondering is the Beta acess. You don't have that stated on the page and isn't listed here GW Website Link. So I was wondering what is it really? lol ~ Reaper 20:44, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

My bad, didn't notice there was a topic about it above. lol xD ~ Reaper 22:43, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
EB Games is mistaken, and we are asking them to correct their messaging. There is no "beta" access, nor is there a "preferred friend" access. The contents is as listed on the article, here. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:34, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Added Information

A player wrote to ask me about the PBP, saying there was confusion about whether, when you bought the PBP, you were automatically signing up to purchase a copy of GW:EN as well. It appears that some customers of the in-game store may believe they're "preordering" and making a commitment to purchase the expansion pack, as well. Here's what I added to the article, and if this is unclear, please let me know:

* Purchasing the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack through the in-game store does not mean that you are placing a "preorder" that then commits you to purchasing the XP itself. You will not automatically be billed for GW:EN when it becomes available. You will need to go back into the in-game store and purchase GW:EN separately, because GW:EN and the Prerelease Bonus Pack are actually two different products. In the future, when GW:EN is available for purchase, you may choose to purchase GW:EN as well as the Prerelease Bonus Pack, which will be available at least through release. If you wish to own both, you should place both into your shopping card in the in-game store.

Thanks for your feedback on this. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 22:50, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Gaile, since you are editing that bit, maybe it would be a good idea to add that the price of the Prerelease will be discounted from the price of GW:EN, if a player buys both from the Online Store. This is something asked often (for example, in GWO) that I haven't seen mentioned on that bit of news. Erasculio 23:14, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Excellent feedback. I've amended the article to contain clarification on that matter, as well. Thank you! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 04:27, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes there is a "Beta"

That weekend you get to play and keep everything you unlock --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:SlashingSword .

No, it's not a beta, it's a sneak peek event. Early access, if you want. I don't think we're testing something out for them to adjust in the same way as in a beta. - anja talk 22:48, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Retail version vs On-line version

I recently bought the retail version of the Pre-release bonus pack for GWEN. It came with a CD. After reading the article itself and all the topics on this discussion I still cannot figure out what the CD is for. The reason for this is I added the pre-bonus key to my account, logged in, and was able to access the bonus items right away (completely ignoring the CD). Do I need to still use the CD to install some sort of software that adds functionality to the account (or to my computer) to participate in the GWEN preview weekend just before the official release? If so does the CD need to be installed first, before adding the key? Have I messed up my pre-release bonus pack? Elite Runner 19:45, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
