They are gonna make all classes being able to both solo and play in groups. So in GW2 you don't need easier monsters to solo them. --Sir Bertrand 09:23, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

You're kidding-easy mode? So if in GW2 there'll be runs noone'd be able to profit from it. You could do GW2 100 times a day. Too boring. And elite armors and titles'd be totally unneeded. Personally I don't think making all of GW soloable with 5 nukes is going to be fun. Ninjas In The Sky 12:43, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
There might be some merit there - I know many people that quit playing GW because it was, in fact, too hard, mostly because of the 8 skill limit and needing to play an area in advance to learn what skills to bring (now they play WoW with friends that have L70+ chars that help them). While there is merit in a challenge, there is also merit in helping more casual gamers. Worst of all is the almost essential requirements for the type of character you run - if you run an ele, you almost are required to run fire (even in the fire islands - someone almost always brings Winter just so you can nuke). If you run a warrior, you need to run swords or axes. Ever seen a Paragon without Vicious Attack or Spear of Lightning? I haven't. Speaking of Paragons, I don't think I've had a pickup group with a paragon, assassin, mesmer, or ritualist in 3 months or more (I'd peg paragon at 8 months and I've even been redoing NF with pickup groups lately). If this were balanced to give every type of caster a use in PvE it would make much more diverse and interesting groups. --Falseprophet 16:51, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm sure someone who has lost both arms and can only hit random keys with his head would be more likely to play Guild Wars if the game could be played in its entirety by repeatedly pressing the spacebar. Which does not mean Arena Net should cater to the lower denominator with their games. One of the worst mistakes I see people making about GW2 is the assumption that Arena Net is supposed to please everyone - they aren't. Each decision Arena Net makes pleases some possible players and bothers other possible players; always seeking compromise would leave us with a game that is acceptable for everyone and great for no one. In a game that focus so much on "skill > time spent", you cannot expect completely unskilled players to have as much success, or as much fun, as someone who knows at least the basis from the game.
And really, I'm far from being a good player - I'm average at most, as far as skill goes. Yet I have never bothered to play an area in advance in order to know what skills to bring - it's a very simple matter of taking a build that works within most situations, or most of the time just taking whatever build I feel like playing and adapting my strategy to whatever it is I'm facing. I have never played as an Fire Elementalist if I wanted to play as something else - and if no PUG would accept me, it's a simple matter to take henchmen and/or heroes and do it myself. I don't have a single Paragon template with Spear of Lightning or Vicious Attack - and yet my Paragon is by far the most powerful character I have.
Lastly, giving each kind of caster a role in PvE does not have anything to do with adding "easy mode" - all casters can succeed in any area right now, so the problem isn't the difficulty of the game, rather the identity of each caster class. Right now, the only casters who lack a strong identity are Ritualists, IMO - everyone else has a very clear role in the game. Erasculio 00:18, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
