Hellgate minigame

moved from ArenaNet:Guild Wars 2 suggestions

Hellgate London has a cute feature which I've had a bit of fun with; the minigame. The basic premise is that you get three random goals to perform in game. These goals are represented as icons with a number countdown on the lower right of the screen. When these three goals are completed a bunch of loot just randomly appears for you - then the mini game resets and you start over. The goals are things like killing x of the one of the three monster types (demons, necros or beasts), killing x monsters using a particular damage type, picking up x of a particular loot drop type, finishing x quests. Hellgate is a much more loot oriented game than GW so I don't know if it is really appropriate to directly translate it in. But I've found it to be a really fun addition to just running through areas killing stuff; you think about picking weapons for their damage type and look forward to even dull drops. A bright spot on what is otherwise a fairly ho-hum game. --Aspectacle 11:34, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

The idea sounds fun, but instead of loot per se, its reward could be linked to the current bounty. For example, if you use the Luxon or Kurzick bounty, it add points to it. If you are vanquishing, it adds to the gold & XP rewards, etc. Similarly, you could have a choice of bounties for any given area, sort of selecting how you prefer to be rewarded. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 20:20, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
a suggestion like this i think would fall under Miscellaneous, or game Game mechanics. i think this page should stay clear of suggestions myself.75.165.97.72 21:02, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
@Alaris. That's a good idea for giving GW type rewards. I'm pretty fond of the loot thou - because you know - it's loot. :P As an after thought I should mention that the game is maintained over restart and instance changes so if you got just one more thing (especially the drops) to get you don't have to worry about loosing your progress if you leave.
I like loot too, and I think that my idea could include an option for added loot. Kinda like telling the game what you want to work for, and get a bit more of exactly that. "Pay me in Kurzicks". "Pay me in gold". "Pay me in loot". "Pay me in *hic* ale". -- Alaris_sig Alaris 15:25, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
@75.165. I'd like if the scheme could be all the collaborative approach, but I do think Sataneal has a point about making it approachable for those who just don't read before they post - from the wiki help pages you can't help but notice that there are a few. I am concerned that collecting suggestions on this page will generate more work than anyone in the community is willing to support but I'm unwilling to rule it out as a good idea because unlike Gaile's suggestions pages we have some control here and can archive/file as we choose. I've yet to be convinced either way and probably won't form an opinion until I see how people end up using the pages. --Aspectacle 03:44, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

for the problem with monks not directly killing, ect. you could have diffrent sents of goals for each class, monks could get points for healing instead of killing.
