ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/New content without expansions
I'm really confused at what you are trying to suggest. Do you want expansions or not? From my sources, Guild Wars 2 will be coming out with mini expansions, hopefully, kind of like patches in WoW. If they are going to be patches with newer content like new skills, creatures, and weapons then it would be even better! --PCGamer07 01:56, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
GW1 only really had one expansion though: Eye of the North, which if I recall wasn't originally going to be an expansion at first, but was made into one, once they decided to move onto making GW2. My facts could be wrong on that, however. The others were separate games in themselves, which I really don't see where any advantage or disadvantage would come into play. If I'm not mistaken, owning one campaign didn't mean that your PvP character couldn't get the skills that someone with all the campaigns could get, so there really is no disadvantage there. I think even the skills in EotN could be attained in PvP, with the exception of PvE only skills. Granted, if you only had Prophecies, you couldn't get some PvE skills or character classes such as Ritualist skills from Factions, but this doesn't give you any really disadvantage to completing Prophecies. Besides, in order for ANET to give players as much new content as they have given by adding the campaigns, they'd have to charge a monthly fee like WoW does, in order to afford it and to stay in business. I rather prefer ANET's method of adding new content, and think that the way they added the campaigns as 'separately' playable games by not requiring a previous campaign was a good play on their part. As for EotN, well, that's why it is referred to as an expansion, requiring Prophecies to attain it. If spending one time charges of $30 for EotN and maybe another $30-50 for Prophecies is what you're considering as a disadvantage, then maybe you should try playing WoW for a few months, at $15 a month, while still be charged for expansion packs for extra $$, so that you can appreciate how ANET made Guild Wars expandable without a monthly cost.--209.194.208.116 20:28, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
