ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Penalise leavers
Another way to discourage leavers is to lock drops until the mission end or the party get whiped. That way deserters will loose all drops and gc. Astrael 14:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
I seemed to get into bad teams most of the time. For example, I was doing the Ice Caves of Sorrows and this player did the unforgivable and actually aggroed the army of Mursaat later in the mission which got our Evennia killed and resulted in mission failure. I really didn't think people in this part of the game can still be a noob. --PCGamer07 21:05, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't agree, seeing as how lag, disconnection, or having to leave for other reasons are all too common.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Eragon610 (talk).
I'm sick of wasting my time
I was so shocked at what happened today. I was playing in the mission Sanctum Cay with PuG. This guy wanted a bonus really bad, so we did what he wanted us to do. And this is what happened.
"Well, im not a man of my words so im going to quit"
|| Wolfseye || has left the game
Then we realized that the mission was impossible because the dock was filled with white mantle and they owned the vizier. I hope that Anet can find this guy and ban him forever because he represent only selfishness and greed. He used us players to get his goal and then bail out on us when we needed him. I felt one less hope for humanity because if people are like this in the game, how will they act in real life. Why must we good citizens suffer because of few bad apples? Please Anet listen to my pleas, and ban him so that there aren't any more innocent people that used to trust people become not trusting of anyone. If you need evidence, I have captured few screen shots showing how he lied and left us. I'm really sick of wasting my time. I've had it with playing with people like this. I've had it with GW missions. --PCGamer07 15:59, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Guild Wars is serious business, amirite? --76.25.197.215 20:49, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Guild Wars is so serious bizne$$ that anyone who slacks off or leaves due to an emergency deserves insta-ban, right? Sanctum Cay is a n00b mission, I can easily hench it with my eyes closed. Use henchmen, get a decent build that doesn't suck, quit QQing, and finish the mission. I can understand your complaint if you are doing elite missions/FoW/UW/DoA or vanquishing Hard Mode but Sanctum Cay is really nothing to complain about.
- If you permanently ban people for leaving a mission what do you do to people who delete all your characters and empty your xunlai chest?
- Lol, a good team of 5 people(1 space for the leaver) can finish Sanctum Cay with half-empty skillbars(4 skills each instead of 8). Learn better tactics and don't fail.

Alternative Solutions
Some alternatives are possible, mostly based on the actual reasons why people decide to leave (or not) and the problems it causes:
- While idle for more than 15 seconds, players do not get experience or drops.
- When idle for a long time (say 15 minutes), players get kicked (mainly applies to inactivity in missions). Alternatively, there could be a vote option at that point, in case the group agrees on the player being idle.
- When a player leaves, an NPC with the same skills/gear/attributes takes his place, or his space can be filled by a hero (or whatever the system in GW2 will be).
- Bonus isn't completed unless the mission is completed (as usual in factions/NF).
- Kickvote. When kicked, all items assigned to the player either disappear or are given to the player nonetheless. Auto pickup would also prevent exploitation. Abuse of this feature may get your account banned.
Just some ideas, feel free to add more. --Tenshi Samshel 18:42, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Player being taken over by AI
I think that if a player leaves his/her character should be taken over by an AI. This AI would be identicle to the hero AI. This could also happen to afkers. I can think of a few exploits. But... Discuss
GREAT IDEA PUNISH THE LEAVERS BUT... cant some of u guys understand that some people have a LIFE?
