Anon's Issue

The reason why I don't think that changing this skill into an elite form of Aggressive Refrain will not probably never be implemented is because having an uninterruptible 33% that can be kept on easily with no side effects (which is one of the reasons why Aggressive refrain was nerfed in the first place) would definitely be overpowered. People would really be complaining about spear damage then --Harmony 03:39, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

If you take this, you're losing Defensive Anthem / Song of Restoration / Song of Purification / Expel Hexes in exchange for faster attack speed. The reason people complain about spear DPS is because Paragons can DPS and provide support at the same time, which losing your elite slot kind of kills. --71.229.204.25 03:45, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
A paragon would still be able to provide good support through non-elite shouts and chants. With the irrremovable 33% ias, Paragons would gain more energy by be able to use adrenaline shouts and chants even more quickly. Also, the paragon losing its elite slot for this isn't necessarily true. A paragon could take an elite such as Defensive Anthem or Song of Restoration then use Arcane Mimicry to get a copy of Soldier's Fury from another person. Since it would be reapplied every time a chant or shout ends, the 60 second recharge on mimicry wouldn't even matter. You wouldn't be able to use skills from other professions on the paragon but paraway groups would still gain a big unnecessary buff. --Harmony 20:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
What shouts and chants? The only adrenaline-based shouts that are worth mentioning are GFtE! and Anthem of Envy, and AoE isn't getting much play at all. The bit about Arcane Mimicry is a good point, but then you'd be losing your secondary (unless you're running Cry of Frustration/Mirror of Disenchant, which has been seeing some play recently). --71.229.204.25 20:57, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Paragons have several shouts and chants they can use in the command, leadership, and motivation attributes. Some really do need buffs (and hopefully there will be less that need buffs if izzy considers some of the suggestions made for paragons) but they can still be used for support. They can also use warrior shouts such as "Watch Yourself!" and "Shields Up!". My point was the paragon is still providing support; a paragon's support does not come from one elite skill. --Harmony 15:26, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I actually reckon this skill is OK (I mean, compare to Soldier's Stance... although that REALLY needs a buff), it's just that in most situations Agressive Refrain is better. Bear in mind that Agressive Refrain has to be kept up even between battles (not too hard, at least not with multiple paragons, but still an extra awkwardness) or you have to stump up the 25 Energy cost again, applies Cracked Armour (which can be good - see RC, Plague Sending, Foul Feast + Contagion et c. but can just make life worse for your monks if they're being pressured) and gives a lower speed boost. On the other hand, though, this is elite. I think it would be more useful, though, if there were more shouts and chants which lasted rather than having end effects.
