Not going to beat around the bush, I'm gonna just say it. Paragons turned broken, not only in PvE, but especially in PvP. Below is a list of PvP split skills I feel should be buffed. Having played Paragon in both PvE and PvP, for a long time, this all is coming from my stand-point as an avid Paragon player. But don't take my word for it, I'm just very tired of seeing Paragons be nerfed or remain broken, while alot of other Professions receive the highest of attention (in a good way).

Command (PvP)[edit]

"Incoming!" "Incoming!" 10 Energy25 Activation timeElite Shout. For 4..9..10 seconds Allies in earshot move 33% faster, gain 5..13..15 Health while moving, and receive 5..29..35% less damage. End for an ally if that ally successfully hits with an attack.

"Brace Yourself!" "Brace Yourself!" 5 Energy20 Activation timeShout. For 5..11..13 seconds Whenever target ally would be knocked-down, nearby foes take 15..53..63 damage instead. Cannot self-target.

"Can't Touch This!" "Can't Touch This!" 5 Energy20 Activation timeShout. For 20 seconds The next 1..4..5 touch skills used against allies within earshot fail.

"Never Give Up!" "Never Give Up!" 5 Energy20 Activation timeShout. Allies in earshot gain 1..8..10 Energy and gain 10..30..60 Health. Only affects allies below 75% Health.

"Never Surrender!" "Never Surrender!" 5 Energy20 Activation timeShout. For 10 seconds Party members in earshot gain +1..4..5 Health regeneration and have +5..10..15 armor. Only affects party members below 75% Health.

Defensive Anthem Defensive Anthem 10 Energy2 Activation time25 Recharge timeElite Chant. For 4..9..10 seconds Party members in earshot have 50% chance to block and have +24 Armor. Ends when hitting with an attack skill.

PvE Versions[edit]


Remedy Signet Remedy Signet 1 Activation time4 Recharge timeSignet. Remove Poison, Disease, and Blindness from yourself, and one additional condition.

Leader's Zeal Leader's Zeal. Change to Leadership Attribute...
Leader's Comfort Leader's Comfort. Change activation time to 0-1/4 instead of 2...

Song of Restoration Song of Restoration 5 Energy1 Activation time20 Recharge timeElite Chant. For 1..8..10 seconds each time party members within earshot uses a Skill, that party member gains 5..21..25 Health. When this chant ends, party members affected by this chant gain 25..80..110 Health.

Song of Power Song of Power 15 Energy1 Activation time20 Recharge timeChant. For 5..13..15 seconds each ally within earshot gains 4 Energy regeneration and each allies' attributes are boosted by 0..2..3 until that ally uses a Skill. Taken from Mora's buff idea, I support it 100%

Defensive Anthem Defensive Anthem 10 Energy1 Activation time20 Recharge timeElite Chant. For 1..8..10 seconds, party members within earshot gain +5..21..25 armor and have a 33..47..50% chance to block. No effect while party members are attacking or using a skill. Again, taken from Mora's idea. I also support this change 100%

Hexbreaker Aria Hexbreaker Aria 5 Energy1 Activation time10 Recharge timeChant. For 10 seconds, Allies within earshot lose one hex with their next skill.

Lyric of Purification Lyric of Purification 5 Energy1 Activation time10 Recharge timeChant. (5...17...20 seconds.) Allies in earshot lose one condition with their next skill.

Aggressive Refrain Aggressive Refrain 15 Energy1 Activation time20 Recharge timeEcho. For 5...21...25 seconds. You attack 33% faster. Renewal: whenever a chant or shout ends on you. You have -20 armor.

Again, these are just ideas or some inspired by another that I support. People would like to think all the nerfing done to Paragons was for the better, but they also wouldn't like to think that these nerfs have almost completely destroyed the Paragon. Especially in PvP. Ritualists were made to be a support-class, helping defend and supporting the Backline (monks). Well, I see Paragon in the same manner. Remedy Signet I think needs be changed, due to because, Rangers have the same exact skill, non-attribute, same skill data, EXCEPT...Paragons are stuck with the screwy skill function. One condtion? Are you serious? Why? Signet of Return is less vital than the Ritualist's Death Pact Signet, EXCEPT...It's stuck with a higher recharge and a higher activation time....Why? Defensive Anthem in conjunction with "Stand Your Ground!" is very Energy consuming for a Paragon. Why not lower the energy on them? After all, they have very screwy recharge times and functions....I believe Mending Refrain, "Can't Touch This!", and Finale of Restoration were fine the way they were. For the first two stated skills, when did Paragons become so skill-selfish? And please..Please lower that activation time for Leader's Comfort...it's disgusting, anyone could interrupt that..
Also, would love to see a huge turn around for Aggressive Refrain. I mean, come on. Suffering the armor penalty, and suffering from having to continuously spam shouts to keep it maintained. Also....having to suffer 25 energy just to get it up, with a 2 second activation? An enemy Mesmer would just love to snipe that thing from a distance with an interruption skill. I know I have done that myself as a mesmer. Rangers and especially Warriors have great IAS skills, with low energy, some with penalties, and great management. Paragons only have two. And they both give a -20 Armor Penalty.
Paragons were meant to be the party buffer. Ritualists were meant to lend a helping hand to Monks. So I don't see why Paragons have to be the game's black sheep.
I think Paragons could also be considered to be tweaked as far as their Motivation line goes. It's more like Unmotivation. Screwy recharge times for very low health gain, or not enough benefits. As with Song of Restoration up above, I think all chants should be Effected-Under-Duration like the example up above. I understand you want to make a Profession unique without making it Over-powered, but making a unique Profession that is almost under-powered isn't any better either.
