The Reference Librarian[edit]
This will be a new quest (The Reference Librarian) given by a new NPC (The Reference Librarian), that is a cross-campaign scavenger hunt for five missing quest items, each named, The Reference Librarian (one each for Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, EotN, and Beyond).
Along the way, every NPC with whom you must meet will speak only in the vilest and most meaningless cliches (see below for examples). Foes encountered in each campaign will always use the wrong set of skills, drop unexpected items, and so forth (e.g. a Knight, clearly armored in Plate Mail, will wield a wand and focus, but use Ranger skills, and drop ritualist tomes).
The idea is to give conniptions to those of us who discuss argue about whether phrases or names are references to something in real life (or real life fiction)...and to those of us who try to document the wiki (and create appropriate conventions for article names, categorizations, and lists).
Cliches for $200, Alex[edit]
- I coulda been a contender.
- Give 110%.
- Heart of a lion.
- That's some really heavy stuff you're into, man.
- If you really loved me...
- Look out — I'm going in.
- It's showtime.
Background[edit]
The point of creating such a hard-to-document quest+associated-elements is as a way to honor the wiki contributors as a group. Instead of naming a single NPC after a single contributor, the entire community would be the inspiration by creating a meta reference (i.e. the reference is the referencing of references and the documentation of the documentarians).
