About the maps, I think they way to go in multiple ways is to actually keep one map. Just expand the mapfile and let people scroll along the map if necessary. Like within gw1 you would see cantha elona and tyria in one map instead of three seperate maps. A globe is cool ofcourse, but it gives a very limited expanding idea. If tyria cantha and elona are only like 1/8 of a globe that would leave so much open space on a globe it would not be so handy. Unless gw2 comes to a point where you're able to walk around the world.
I dunno about the other things, they sort of seem less relevant to me. I don't think anything like mods .. especially in an MMO would be left over to the player if it involved cheating or exploiting. (131.174.42.36 14:12, 29 June 2010 (UTC))
- Agreed about the single map. I mentioned elsewhere one would be good. Agreed about the other suggestions too, while the Banana one would be humerous for a time, and not much different to the hats and costumes. The graphical mod idea is a mine field waiting to happen. While things like that could be gotten away with in years gone by, in this day and age of lawyers looking for any possible way to make their next dollar, it would be a headache at best for the staff to avoid copyright material being used, and I'd rather Anet spend time doing real work than vetting "artists" submissions, which lets face it, 99% of which will be utter rubbish while the remaining percent will be great, but never be completed. As is the case of every mod, everywhere, ever. And not having some kind of vetting process will of course lead to all manner of abuse. To be honest, after all the trouble third party programs have caused with GW1 since the line "you can use them, but we wont support you if things go wrong" was originally uttered, I can very easily see Anet putting a blanket ban on ALL third party programs, apps, mods etc.
- So yeah, but the single map idea is good, should have that in GW1, would be nice. Tylenol Jones 15:31, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback guys. I do realize that the mod part would be a minefield, thats why I added the new section to my suggestions page! check it out! -Awk34
- More contests would be good (and will probably happen in some way) since the GW1 contests for weapons have always produced some pretty decent results, so extending it in some way but keeping it as a proper contest could always work well.Tylenol Jones 20:21, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- The rotating maps idea is just like what was said above, it would limit the expandability of the game. You could however have the map "rotate" as you reach the edges of the map, in effect mimicking the globe idea. Having it while zoomed out would also make the rotate faster. The mod ideas would, Im afraid, be shot down by Anet in a heartbeat. Its just far too risky or demanding to upkeep. The tonic idea is interesting, but I feel it needs a little more fleshing up. As-is it seems trivial. The idea for more contests is a definite thumbs up from me, as I always loved seeing new and interesting designs for things get into the game. Expanding the contests to minis and the like is even more interesting. It adds more possibility. What if the contest was for hairstyles for characters, or armor sets or pieces? It has alot of potential.--Neithan Diniem 05:42, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
