Nice. Where would the entrance(s) be? -- FreedomBound 14:07, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ya, I like this, my friend and I had a similar idea.--Unendingfear 14:17, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Entrance is obviously Sardelac Sanitarium. I can understand your thoughts behind the environmental effect though I fear it hinders Elementalists and Dervish too much. Maybe it could be improved by allowing only parties of a certain size? Maybe something comparable to the beginning of The Deep? Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 14:22, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I suppose it could be that excavations were completed and the old entrance were uncovered. The catacombs in pre-searing had multiple exits, though, so I was thinking that there might be a similar situation, where each entrance could have different pros/cons. -- FreedomBound 14:46, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- The entrance doesn't necessarily have to be in Sardelact Sanitarium. Remember that the catacombs are all under Ascalon. Most parts probably crumbled, but something must be still there somewhere. MithTalk 04:46, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Catacombs was always my favorite area from pre-searing. I'd like it if they made a new zone, but judging from what people have said previously about how much work it is, it's not very likely. —Jette 14:09, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- I actually think this would be a completely great idea. As far as access points though, we'd need some way of restricting access, meaning either a high level quest being the opening, or perhaps some form of appeasement or so. Of course, I also like the idea of just having some mysterious opening hidden somewhere in Ascalon that would lead you to this area. However, if you were too low level, you may find yourself quickly defeated by anything in there. Hence, it would need some way of introductory / limitations of access, more than likely. - What a fun idea! I never thought of it before, but the Catacombs aren't in post-searing. It would be awesome if they put that in as new content. Why would it be a lot of work to do this? --MushaTalk 01:19, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, they are, just a bit crumbled and with no visible entrances. But all Tyria has lots of underground areas. The first one we saw in pre-Searing is Sorrow's Furnace. MithTalk 15:02, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- This is a great way for the L ive team to add new content while reducing their artwork and mapmaking burdens. --Emkyooess 15:32, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- I already liked your idea back then when you had set everything up pretty detailed. I couldn't find it anymore, but i still think it's a great idea. The Catacombs are a feast for the Eyes most players don't even know about, or only barely noticed when shortly rushing through it during a quest. This is the oldest and possibly still one of the best dungeons regarding its setting. This is possibly one of the best and easiest ways to create a post-Searing Elite Area. The Catacombs would suit just perfectly as an Elite Area for Prophecies.
- Having "neglected" weapons skins (from PvP rewards and various unique items with literally unique skins) as possible loot provides a new twist for PvE players as well without any modeling effort. This way CA kills two birds with one stone through this proposal.
- I also like Noctarch's suggestion. True, Catacombs are beneath entire Ascalon, but Sardelac Sanitarium would simply make most sense as an (remaining) entrance. There are even two good spots for this. —ZerphaThe Improver 21:07, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
